Default Need quick answer re useful item on QVC (UK)

There is a Jack la Lanne Elite Power Juicer on special today on the UK version of QVC. It's a reasonable price and I can pay in two instalments.

People in the US will be more familiar with Jack la Lanne so has anyone got any feedback on this juicer? You can see it on www.qvc.co.uk

It takes whole fruit and veg and can also juice wheatgrass(which I find a bit strong) AND you can make almond / other nut milk with it.

Should I buy it? I need some answers before they sell out!!

    Thanks.

The one I saw when I went to the site looks a lot like the magic bullet model. I don't think you'd be happy with it, but it's not my call. It blends the food and then strains it,more than juicing it

Oh dear - one for and one against!!

Actually, I ordered it. It has a 30 day money back guarantee so I thought it was worth a try.

Just have to wait a week or so before it arrives - quite excited as the small domestic juicer I have can barely cope with two carrots!!

    Thanks for your input.

mrandal - when I did a google search on Jack La Lanne juicers, the Elite one didn't come up but the QVC one definitely look more whizzy than those that did (basic power juicers). It's got a metallic/chrome looking finish and is quite large but doesn't make too much noise when in use.

Can't wait to get it. Apparently you can put plums, cherries and fruit with small stones straight in and they will get juiced without wrecking the machine.

The machine might be able to handle it, but I wouldn't recommend doing that. Plums, cherries, peaches, nectarines, apricots, apples... those and some other fruits have cyanide compounds in their seeds/pits/stones. It takes a lot for a fatal dose, but it still could make you very sick.

Yes, I would actually be quite wary of putting things with stones through the machine, more for the possibility of wrecking it than being poisoned though!

    I get your point though.

I have his power juicer. It does it basic function - juicing. I just looked on the website you posted. It seems that he has fancied it up and thrown in a few extra gadgets.

All in all, I am okay with this juicer. It is nice to have the wider space for inserting whole veggies and fruits. I haven't really noticed a difference in the pulp however. He mentions in his informercial that his model produces less pulp so that we get more juice. I really haven't noticed a difference in comparing this one to the last one that I had.

Let me know how you like the new elite version. I think I have mine for 4 or 5 years...I honestly can't remember. I use it often and so far, so good.
