Inexpensive But Efficient Juicer
I've been tring to wait until after the September class before I go out buying all my big ticket food prep items. But, a few weeks ago I had some awesome carrot juice. It sustained me for hours. I bought a glass the next day, and again delicious. Then I tried the carrot and orange combo. Yummy.
So the owner of this little bodega type store is charging three bucks for @ a 12 oz cup. He uses straight produce no fillers or other stuff like Smoothie King or Wild Oats. not even ice or water. The only thing is all the wasted carrot shavings.
So I went home and made some juice and cut up carrots.I used a blender as I don't have a juicer. The flavor was good but the pulp gross. I had to force it down.
The bodega is 30 miles from my house and at $3 a pop surely it would be more efficient, green and enjoyable for me to juice at home. Since my family still eats cooked I could make carrot cake, with the pulp, every other day until I purchase a dehydrator.
Is this reasonable logic and would a $50 juicer do the trick?
I really want a vitamixer, which would be a later big purchase, but will it puree carots fine enough so that I dont have to chew my drinks?
It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

vitamixer is wonderful, but when I want some smooth juice I just use my 45 dollar juiceman jr. and it works great.

If you really want to wait why not just strain what you get from the blender? My mom did this for years. I grew up drinking carrot juice and had never seen a juicer. Use one of the really fine wire seives or cheescloth. You could get either for under $5 and then wait for the juicer after your class. Just my two cents.

Let us know how using the blender works out for you!
I'm also deciding between a vita mix and a juicer.

Just blended about 1.5 lbs of carrotas with the juice of an orange an water.
It was the consistentcy of split pea soup, plus I couldn't find my strainer.
Taste ok but not to have as a drink, more like thick carrot gravy. I don't know howthis would have strained even if I had found it. Maybe I needed more water.
rummaged the cabinets found some walnut, leftover coconut from hubbies baklava and some craisins
Mixed this concotion with other unmentionables in an attempt to make some sort of carrot power bar for the teens who are @ 50% raw.
Anyway I won't go into detail or report back cause the mystery loaf is a concoction of non raw stuff, just rying to prevent waste.
