Default Is juice+pulp the same as blending?

    Hi,

I am very new to raw, I have been a vegetarian for about 25 years and a vegan for 9 months, and I've recently found this site and am trying to increase the amount of raw food I eat.

Yesterday, I ordered an Oscar Vital Max juicer (I think it is called an Omega 8003 in USA) and can't wait to get it in a few days time. I currently have a Breville centrifugal juicer, which is great for carrots but I want to grow and juice wheatgrass, and increase my consumption of greens, hence the reason for buying the new juicer.

I would love to have a Vitamix or a K-Tec blender but they are very expensive here in the UK and can't afford one at the moment.

I was wondering if I juiced my vegetables and then added the pulp back in to the juice, and blended them in my regular low power blender, would this have the same nutritional value of just blending the vegetables whole in a powerful blender?, or does using Vitamix or K-Tec blender do something different to the vegetables?

My current blender is only 400W, I can get an 850W blender quite cheaply, would that be a worthwhile upgrade?

    Thanks for reading,

    Julie

A high-powered blender might break up the pulp a bit more and make it easier to digest, but there's not going to be a big difference between that and juicing+blending.

    Welcome to the board.
I think that any step towards raw is a step in the right direction.
I have a vitamix and I have a cheepy and I do not care which one I use as I think that blended is blended.
Have you tried to do it in your cheepie.
Experiment. Juicing and then adding the pulp back in would work well but may be a bit wastefull as you would loose some in the process.
There is sufficient in the world for man's need, but not for his greed.
