Do you overeat dehydrated foods?
I tend to normally eat fresh foods that are minimally processed.
Over the last week though, I have been making a bunch of foods for the classes I am going to be teaching. Of course I have been tasting what I am making.
The problem for me is that I seem to have no self control when it comes to dehydrated foods. It doesn't matter if it is sweet or savory I eat and eat and eat it. (usually until it is gone)
For instance, I made some oatmeal cookies, burger buns and sweet bread yesterday. I ate so much of it.
Today I finished of the cookies. They were too good.
I almost feel as if I cannot make these things because I can't stay out of them. I even tell my family to come and eat them now or they will be gone shortly. ;)
So am I the only one?

nope, you are not alone! I am right there with ya!

I also have no control over dehydrated foods. What's even worse I have no control over raisins and dates. I can eat so many of them. I can feel full from fruits and veggies, and still 'need' to eat some dried fruit after dinner. If they're in the house I eat a lot until they are gone, justifying that once they are gone I will be okay. I have been raw for 2 months now and have only lost 5 pounds so far and most of that was on an all orange diet for a week... it was strange that was the only time I got over my cravings/addictions to dried fruit. I know it's sabotaging my weightloss, but I can't control myself. My DH wants the dried fruit in the house to make deserts with, but whenever we buy it, I eat and eat it!

Humm, good question, I don't think I over eat, right now I am making rawviolies, with marinara, sauce, I dehydrate them, but only eat 4 at an entire meal.
I don't make much in the way of dehydrated foods anymore, I mostly eat fresh raw fruit, then I have a small dehydrated dinner, which would be one burger pattie and two slices of onion bread, or one small 4" pizza crust, and some marinara and then top it off with fresh veggies, mmmmmmmmmm
or something like that. So, I don't think I over eat on the dehydrated foods, but I do know that when I eat dehydrated foods, I tend to be hungrier the next couple of days, and want to eat more dehydrated foods, and more of them later, so if I have a mini pizza one night, I want it for lunch with a dehydrated dinner too.
So, I do tend to crave more dehydrated foods, when I'm eating them.
I do also make sure to drink alot of water when I'm eating them, but they do seem to cause me to not eliminate as easily the next day. So, I only eat a small amount, with LOTS of fresh ripe raw, water rich fruits. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I don't eat very many dehydrated things at all but when I do I drink a lot of water to try to balance it out. I think you might do well to severely limit them if you can or at least drink more water and increase your intake of other, simple natural fruits and veggies. If you think you can't stay raw without the dehydrated stuff then you should keep eating them in moderation but cutting them out for a while might be a good experience for you. I try to stay away from them because they don't make me feel very good.

I make a bunch of dehydrated foods but they are mostly dessert / cookies. I have two small children and they love to get in the kitchen and muck in when making a sweet treat for them.
My dehydrator is rearly off as I also have my nuts in there too and it's only a four tray.
In writing this reply I realised I rarely eat dehydrated food. I dont like how cookies come out - as I have always liked the crunchy ones not the "soft baked".
I have yet to find a flax cracker I like too.
However I did do Alissas lasagna which was wonderful!

I am glad to see that I am not the only one! ;)
RP- I noticed today too that you are right it even affects elimination.

No. If anything, I eat very little of that stuff. I actually haven't had a lot of success in dehydrating, although the mushrooms I did last night appear to have been a success. I bought some flax crackers at the health foods store and while edible, they are not something I want to eat more than a bite of at a time.
I also have diabetes so I am on a really strict diet. Even if there is a food I want to eat a lot of, I know I can't. So I don't.
