    Default Cravings For Meat!!!

I've been 100% raw 120 days now, and the last couple of weeks, I have been craving meat, now what is REALLY strange about this is that I haven't eaten any meat of any kind since the summer of 1995, 11 years now, and here I am craving meat.

Now, I'm not going to eat any, but it is interesting to observe the craving as if it were an entity of itself.

first I smell the food (in my mind, it just comes up) then I kind of look around for it, then I realize that it isn't really there, it is in my mind, then I think about it, then I change the thought to some other food, usually a different cooked food, which goes immediately into a great raw food.

I have observed this about myself lately.

Now, I must admit, we have had two parties at our house lately, July 4 was a big bar-b-que, where there was alot of cooked meat, and July 11, the full moon, again, there was alot of cooked meat, and then tonight we went out ti dinner with friends, and everyone ate cooked meat, I had warm herbal tea, (after I ate rawviolies at home)--THEN I came home and ate pineapple and coconut. YUMMY!!!

but then I observed about 3 hours later, I was craving meat. Plus other cooked foods.

So, I'm not sure if it is just detoxing out of my system, OR, if it is a reaction to the smell of all the cooked meat at the potlucks lately.

And what's funny, is the meat didn't bother me at all, during the party, or even tonight, now the baked potato looked good, LOL but the meat looked funny, like non-food. LOL

so, I think that is interesting, and again, just for anyone reading this, I'm not going to eat any meat or cooked food for that matter, but I did find it interesting to observe myself during this time.

the craving is gone now, comes and goes.

So, I'm glad that I didn't have an iceberg lettuce and canned olive salad with bottled salad dressing tonight at dinner, YIKES!!!

as I'd be craving during my cravings, if you know what I mean.

and what's interesting to me, is that usually I have no cravings at all, they just come up suddenly, then leave just as suddenly, and there seems to be no set pattern for them, they come out of the blue, that is why I think they are some form of detox.

So bring on the detox, I'm ready for ya!!!!!

The smell of bar-b-que will always do it to me, and I don't care how plastic the slab of dead flesh looks, I will want it.

I'm going through that too, have actually had really clear dreams of people feeding me plates and plates of it. Woke up horrified because I thought I'd actually eaten it (even though I don't have it in the house)

I wonder if it IS another detox thing? How interesting.

Your body could be craving something that is in the meat... b12, iron, zinc etc...?

Obviously it is detox because those things are being introduced into your bloodstream by detoxing out of your organs. That stuff was obviously hidden pretty deep for a long time. Personally, I get cravings here and there but not that bad. When I get a bad craving it is usually only when I've seen or smelled a food commericial or something that someone else was eating. I am a very smell oriented person so I have found that allowing myself to really take in the aroma of these cooked foods helps alot. This isn't appropriate all the time but at home, when my hubby has a big ole plate of something that I used to love, he allows me my "smell time" as we call it. I put my nose right up to it and just smell smell smell and it really does help. That may sound odd but it works for me. As long as I am allowed to indulge in the smell, the cravings go away a little more each time.

What's funny is the ONLY other time I had meat cravings, was when I was 100% raw for a few weeks, or so. NEVER in the entire time of being a vegetarian, was I ever interested in eating meat, still am not actually, but now it smells good to me.

So, I think it is a detox thing, as there is nothing in meat that I could possibly, wany, but I might start taking the B12 suppliment that I took for a couple of weeks way back when, just to see if it helps with the cravings, of course I kiss my dog on the mouth, and eat food out of the gardens, and don't wash my mushrooms, so I'm sure I get plenty of B12, LOL

    but I'll try it anyway.

thanks for your responses, it helps.

smell, hummm, now THAT"S an IDEA!!!

Yeah it makes sense though because now your diet is devoid of anything that might pacify your cravings. For example. I went vegetarian for a while and as long as I could have other cooked stuff I was fine, never even craved meat because I still had that cooked food drug addiction response going on. Now, we are naked, we have nothing to hide behind, so cravings are abundant. Try the smell thing, it might just work for you. It helps if you move your mouth and feel your tounge as you smell it because it almost feels like you're eating it and you can almost taste it. I was actually worried after one 'smell session' that I had violated raw somehow by just taking in that great smell, lol.

The smell thing has worked for me before, and while I was smelling I was also reminding myself how it was not going to taste as good as it smelled, and how it would make me feel bad as well. I actually felt lucky, because I thought I was getting the best of both worlds, smelling the cooked food, but not eating it. Weird Huh?

    Thoughts are coming up...

Detox is not only on a molecular level. All body cells have a sort of cell memory. When radical changing in our lives, there is a detox on a higher level, when old cell memories no longer are copied at the cell division.

Cell memories can be released with our body weight as a trigger. For example, a girl easy got rid of excess pounds, but couldn't decrease her body weight below 140 pounds. At that level she always got panic. Under hypnosis, she explained: ”That terrible thing happened me when my weight was 140 pounds, so I have always to stay above that level... or below.”

As animals, we are literary living on our own animal fat and protein when fasting, starving or adapting to a lighter diet. When the excess depot depletes, we can expect a sudden compensating craving for food of high energy density.

There is something beyond habits too. We have integrated habits living their own lives, like independent entities. They help us proceed on the old road, but don't want any changes, fighting for their existence when threatened.

I went through the meat cravings last week. I know certain addictions store in the brain and they can release small substances even 15 or more years later. How amazing though, with raw, we can actually get that stuff out there and not go through a 15 year detox, LOL.
