    Default Stress Management

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a glass of water and asked,

"How heavy is this glass of water?"
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matterÂ…
It depends on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. Then, itÂ’s not too heavy.
If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. It feels like a huge loadÂ…
If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. ‘Cos I’ll need an operation…
In each case, the glass is the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." He continued,
"And that's the way it is with stress management.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on.
When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden. Even pick up from where we stopped.
So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Put it downÂ… You know you want toÂ… Don't carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. It will certainly still be there.
There is sufficient in the world for man's need, but not for his greed.

This is so great. I'm going to email it to my mom...she has always stressed out horribly over everything. She has always gotten some sort of stress rashes or something like that.

    Unhappy

Great analogy, but what if you're a student.

The burden of sitting in class for 3+ hours is on you, then the larger burden begins when you get home because you have all the studying and work to do. No wonder why I'm the biggest stress case i know

Interestingly Boz, I viewed that analogy a little differently.

What is STRESS? WHere does it come from?

I believe no matter what the situation, we can be free of stress in everything we do...........here is an example in your situation.

:) In real time, you are a student and have studying to do an meet deadlines for assignments. By choosing to study etc, you will expect a certain outcome right?

IF, you [don't] study, what then is the outcome?

    Which situation is TRULY stressful?

How can you make studying FUN so you don't view it as stressful? Okay, no one say flashcards
