    UsanaGirl,
Glad the parchment paper is working for you!

Don and I live up a mountain in this tiny town called Winlaw in British Columbia. We're about a 40 mins drive from the nearest city (Nelson). We don't have a car so we sometimes have to haul up our food (a 30 mins walk uphill) in a little cart which isn't a small task when you're eating raw! LOL Thankfully though, our kind neighbors often lend us their car or bring us along to go shopping which is MOST welcome...especially when it comes to buying our juicing stuff! ;-)

A lot of work, we know, but we live in such a wonderful and quiet spot. We tell ourselves it's a small price to pay for paradise...

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

    Default Silicon safety

Hi, I've just been reading this post with interest. I have just purchased a 9 tray Excalibur and ordered an extra 8 Teflex sheets. I was also concerned about the teflon thing and didn't really feel great about ordering them, but didn't know what else I could use. I know I'll be doing a lot of breads & leathers for my boys.

So is silicon 100% safe? It still isn't a natural product though is it?

I am a bit bummed out now that I know you can get silicon sheets for the Excalibur - I haven't even received it yet...still coming in the post..

    Hello MarreM,
It certainly is a confusing issue at best! When faced with a similar dilemna, we've concluded that we don't know for sure that silicon is totally safe either so it wasn't worth going through the extra trouble. If you are really concernedabout teflex, I'd suggest you use parchment paper. It isn't as steardy as the other stuff but you can usually reuse a sheet a few times. Excalibur sells some pre-cut sheets for their models or you can buy your own and cut to size.

    Hey Petals,

Parchment paper rolls you can find at your local grocery store for a couple of bucks, probably less in the States!lol The only draw back is that you have to cut it to size yourself. But then you also get to reuse it at least a few times.

The other alternative is to buy pre-cut parchment from Excalibur themselves. They have an ebay store where they sell em for about $10 for 35 sheets or something. Now, I'm not totally positive about their prices...Best thing would be to check em out. It is definitely cheaper though to buy from their ebay site instead of the official one.

Now they have Paraflex sheets. Any info on these? Are they made with teflon?

Yep. Same thing, different name. However, the Paraflex Ultra are made with silicon and no teflon.
Confusing you think? Nah! Not at all! LOL
