Default detoxing the first week of raw?

Did anyone go through a detox period the first week or two of the raw transition? I was a super healty eater before but I am still feeling bloated, have a slight headache and just out of sorts. I am sticking with it eventhough I want to eat a turkey burger!! Would love to hear your initial experience.

    Thanks!

    Hi cjohn and welcome!

Yes, this is not the case with everyone, but it's very likely! I imagine by super healthy eating you mean healthy cooked foods, correct?

You'll still have some effects because while the choices you made were healthy in comparison to SAD foods, compared to natural, raw/living foods they're still not the most optimal for your body (I'm one to talk! )

But when I first attempted this challenge before starting over again this week, I did experience some detox symptoms as well. My body had slight cold-type symptoms coming and going and I had light headaches.

This time around...this is my third day and yesterday I had a slight headache and this morning my eye kept "leaking" non-stop for about an hour.

Try and hang in there! We're all here for you and for one another. This is a very supportive group of people here!!

Also, consider some recipes for nut burgers to stave off that craving for a turkey burger! I know the feeling about those cravings - they can be a killer! But I'm learning that when we first start off, it's important to try and find viable substitutions for those things we love the most in our old diets.

    Hi Cjohnjohn,
When I first tried raw I actually forced by body into detox mode. Instead of eating I went into a two week long juice fast. My detox could be discribed as moderate to severe. Now that I've just been eating normaly my detox has slowed way down and is more bearable.
Now that I've learned a little more about how my body works, I've changed my eating habits quiet a bit. I've found that drinking a large glass of water every morning right after I get out of bed and not eating anything till after 11:00, gives my body the opertunity to continue the detox that takes place during sleep.(Ever notice the nasty taste and coated tongue in the morning when you first wake up? Thats part of detox.)
Detox is a long process but well worth going through. Good luck on your raw journy and hang in there......kirk

Mine wasn't so initial. My first weeks were great!
But since then, I have on and off sinus problems. Stuffiness, my nose just starts running for no reason and I feel like I'm sneezing constantly!.
Plus, my nails have become very brittle.
If your having bloating you may want to check out food combining. Sometimes the wrong combinations causes bloating.
