    Default nut milk? age?

At what age can you start to give an infant almond/nut milks? I am taking care of a 7 month old and his mother is so excited about me feeding him raw stuff. He loves green smoothies! I wanted to give him some banana with almond milk right now but wasn't sure if it was okay at his age?

The sooner you respond the better! Thanks!!!!!!!!

I'd go for it, if he likes it, great, if he doesn't then that's okay too.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be okay to give it to him.

YUMMMYYY, almond milk banans shake, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I don't think they can digest nuts yet when they're that young. At that age they should be eating only breast milk. Green juice would be okay in addition to breast milk. But their systems aren't meant to deal with more complex foods yet when they're seven months old.

I agree. Try to stick with whole foods made safe to gum. If you do try nut milk do it without the honey.

In the Raising Rainbow Babies section of the book Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by Gabriel Cousens (page 418), it says that Almond Mylk is an age-appropriate food for babies under 6 months though in parenthesis it says (as breast milk supplement if necessary).

Jumping to what's appropriate for 8 months, it lists "almonds" as one of the foods.

I'm with Raw Priestess, I'd say let his mom know about what this book says at least and if she says 'yes' see how it goes. Make sure you soak and rinse the almonds if you haven't already!

thanks, I gave it to him and he loved it. She doesn't breast feed anymore. She has him on formula. She knows how I feel about that but is not ready to change at this point so when he is w/ me I just try to give him great raw baby food options.

I blend up all sorts of great stuff for him and he loves it all (except the watermelon)

Also forgot to mention that she eats full meat and dairy herself, but supports the whole raw way of life, lucky for moi.

Smile Almond milk okay at 8 months

I read in a rawfood book that almond milk is okay as early as 6 months and even earlier if breastmilk is insufficient. I am raw but my family is not. I have a 12 month little boy (my only childl) and I started him on almond milk (home-made and store bought) at 11 months. He took a while to get into it, now he loves it. I use almond milk during the day when he's at daycare and I'm at work. At all other times he breastfeeds. The almond milk seems to work as a good substitute. He also enjoys water and freshly squeezed OJ.

Good luck. I think its okay to offer almond milk to an infant. Test it out by offering a little with a spoon to see how the infant reacts. Then watch carefully for any allergic reactions. If he/she seems okay with it, then I think you're okay.

I read that nuts should not be given until 9 months. (That was on Dr. Fuhrman's site: http://www.diseaseproof.com/archives...om-babies.html)
