    Smile Hello

    Hi,

I am new to this forum and am working toward starting 100% raw with my husband and 3 year old daughter. We are organizing ourselves and getting our plan down. We have tried raw a couple times but we were not prepared for it and did not have all the equipment we needed. My daughter is a very picky eater and this is going to be a challenge. But she loves fruit and smoothies and is now liking guac, so I hope that is a good starting base for her. I plan on making the desserts to sneak in some nuts. The challenge for her is veggies. I plan on being firm with her to at least try what I make. Even when we were eating the SAD diet she would try things. Her diet consisted of rice & beans, butter pasta and cheese, besides the fruit and smoothies. Not at all healthy. But we hope to start the 30 day challenge Monday. Oh and I am going to start the 100% raw while pregnant. If I listened to what all the Medical Doctors say I would have to wait to start raw for at least 2 years. Because they don't want you losing to much fat while pregnant or breastfeeding. But which is worse losing some weight a little quicker then what they think or killing my body and under nuritioning (sp?) my child. I just can't wait.

Ps. I have an extremely dumb question. But I can't seem to find where people are journaling. I found their photo journals but I can't find the written. I love reading peoples experiences and hopefully learn from them.

    Hi and welcome Rawmomma!

Congrats on getting started with the challenge. A good way to sneak veggies in (at least greens) is to blend kale or baby spinach into her smoothies. Some even use celery or lettuce (I haven't tried those yet). Also doing fruit juices (juicing yourself) and blending apples and other fruit with celery, carrots, or greens of some kind.

As for the journalling area, you're in the right area...if you look at the photos you'll see "Comments"...usually the highest number of comments is where the individual's journal is. So for example, if you were to go to my photo gallery, you'd see multiple photos, but the one that has the largest amount of comments under it is where my journal is. Some people actually indicate in a caption under their photo if that is where their journal is.

Hope this helps and any further questions you may have about raw, please direct them to the "Raw Foods Discussion" area so they will be seen by all and answered more quickly and if you have recipe questions, juicing questions, etc. there are forums for those topics as well. Best to you on your raw journey!

Welcome, Rawmomma! So, you're pregnant now? Congratulations! How far along are you?

I'm nursing my baby (not really a baby any more, she's really a toddler!) and I'm about 85-90 percent raw, and I've been doing this for ten days. So far, so good.

This is really a nice group of people, I think you'll like it here!

    Welcome!

How lovely that you are doing this as a family. I know there are many on this board who wish they were in your shoes. Reading your journal with help me inspire my DH to join me in an even greater way. (he does some, but is no where near my level of involvement in this movt.)

Welcome RawMama. This is the best decision you could make for your daughter and your baby. There are resources out there for rearing raw children. I can't imagine a better gift to give them. Good luck. Stick with what you know is right despite what the doctors may say.

    Hi to everyone,
My name is Akua and I am 42. I have attempted the raw diet many times but it never lasts long. The longest I have been raw consistently was about 6 weeks and then I fell off the wagon. It was the best 6 weeks of my life! I had crazy energy, only needed about 4 hours of sleep at night, I felt light and my skin cleared up and for the first time in my life my allergies cleared up and I was having regular BM's. All that in just 6 weeks.
It's difficult to be raw with a husband that eats the way that mine eats and even though he tries to be supportive, my will power goes way down when I'm making his food or grocery shopping for things that he likes. We have just moved to the country in Upstate NY and I'm hoping that this will help me focus more on my health. I commute into NYC for work and it's hard for me to make tasty raw food that will still be fresh after a 1 1/2 hour commute. I'm okay for the first 3 days and then I start feeling weak and ill. I get moody and tired. I know it's the detox but when I'm in the middle of feeling bad it's hard to think rational and to do the right thing. The craving are SO intense. I wish I had someone close to me and we could support each other during the transition to raw and that is why I joined this forum. If anyone can help I would be very grateful. I don't have any major health issues right now but I'm afraid that if I don't change soon, I will. Thanks for listening.
