Default today is my first day!!!!

I have decided after reading all the notes and info on this site and also others for a couple of months, that TODAY is my first day raw - I am trying 100% raw from the start - is that wise??? The reason I am doing this is today - I am at home from work sick again with nothing specific but lots in general and I just feel OFF. I would welcome any advice/info as I am just a beginner in this. Kirk - what a great attitude I admire your strength.

    Thanks Doma.:)
I went 100% right from the start and have suffered no ill effects from it so far. For some though it's harder because the craving for cooked is very strong. I'm sorry to hear that your not feeling well. If you have access to a juicer you might try drinking plenty of fresh raw juices troughout the day. It will give you lots of energy.

    Welcome Doma~

Good for you going 100%. I did and didn't have any effects just like Kirk~~although I hope that hat isn't an ill effect......geez! Just kidding Kirk.....I love it! Much better picture......that's more how I picture you. Back to Doma~I had a lot of just feeling "off", too. Keep going and you'll be amazed. You'll be on before you know it. There's a post somewhere.....perhaps under greens where Kirk listed many juices. Give it a try. It will be the fastest way to get the freshest and most nutritious foods into you.

We are all here for you! Ask us anything. If none of us know, we'll try to help you find out!

    Hi Doma,

When I first started juicing I drank a whole lot of carrot mixs such as-

    carrot
    carrot, apple
    carrot, beet
    carrot, celery
    carrot, cucumber
    carrot, apple,celery, beet

Well, you get the idea :). A lot of people (myself included) find deep green leafy vegetables hard to get used to, so you may want to start out adding this to your juice blends a little at a time till you aquire a taste for them.

Hope I helped some. Oh, I posted a lot of recipes in "Juicing, Sprouting and Organic Gardening". You may find something tasty in there.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the words of advice and encouragement, I have checked out Kirks juices, thanks Kristi and Kirk, at the moment I am OK with greens but I will try juicing them over the weekend. I have the carrots, etc. I must admit I am finding it a bit hard at the moment, I do not have too many recipes and most of them are variations on the usual salad, I am a bit lettuced out!!!! Getting headaches, I guess thats part of the detox thing.

Sorry in advance if I ask really stupid questions, however I am a total beginner and only know what I have found on various sites, can only improve tho - right????

Thanks Thunderdancer, No I havent done the journal, maybe I should, I am a bit computer illiterate tho, so I guess I will discover these things as time goes on. Lots of reading here for me to do.

Thanks again for all encouragement and advice - its all great :)

    Welcome Doma,
I just joined the forums recently and yes I am finding a lot of nice info here. Kirk or someone could you explain a little more for me "feeling off"? I haven't went totally raw yet, still setting up my kitchen, etc. but for the last two days I have limited my cooked food, and I don't eat much meat anymore. When I got up this morning, felt kind of weak and had a slight headache. Will eating more raw food cause you body to start releasing toxins? I kind of feel like I am in the first stages of a water fast but am eating fruit and grains for breakfast, a salad for lunch, and more fruits and veggies for dinner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

    Smile Hey first timer

    Hi Everyone,

Doma my friend. Raw at the start is as much mental as it is physical. You will need to re-enforce your attitude all day long. You will become preoccupied by food. Thnking about this and that. Eat all you want as long as it's raw. Over time you will start to get the hang of it. Research and re-enforce. Don't let yor blood sugar get to low. Stay on the boards and ask for advice if you need it. We are not doctors, so our advice is strictly from our own experiences.

We are all very different as you can tell by our posts. I wish you the best.

    Peace in the Middle East,

Keep it up, Doma. It sounds like your body is giving up toxins already!

Thunderdancer, what are chooks? I had to ask, sorry.

    Chooks are chickens Kathy :)

Curtis, yes raw will help your body detox, get rid of toxins, heal. I never had any big detox eating raw feeling off is detox, a good thing.
Fasting detoxed me big time (water) juice fasting was more gentle detox, and raw is like a permanent cleaning way to eat.
Congratulations on taking steps to detox/heal.
