Certification Course, July, in Maine
Sorry for the repeat post guys - I just realized I posted this in the wrong section:
Anybody going to the July training? I'm considering it - my kids' (they're all in their twenties & responsible, although I will probably be worried, just the same, about my furrbabies) have all told me to go for it, and that they'll take care of the dogs (yes, three of them).
I'm concerned about finding (reasonable!) lodging (July being tourist time in Maine & all).

Hey! When I did my teacher training I stayed at the Northeaster Motel, it wasn't too far from Alissa's and very reasonably priced. There's also the "Enchanted Nights" bed and breakfast that is right up the street that has some decent rates.

hi happycat,
are the motel and bed and breakfast that you mention within walking distance? were there any other places you noticed that were close enough to walk?
thanks!

The bed and breakfast was within walking distance, there was a motel up the street, but I forget what it was called. Once you sign up for the class you will be added to an email list with everyone in that class giving you the possibility to make arrangements to share drives/rooms/etc. which can definetly make things more affordable and you might make a new friend as well! Hope this helps a little.

Places to stay
Hello!
Alissa asked me to post some information about where to stay for the 5-day certification course. I hope you don't mind if I post it on this thread. I love that you are sharing ideas about places to stay. Here are a few suggestions that people in previous classes really enjoyed.
(By the way, we did not get very good feedback about the "Enchanted Nights" B&B. We don't recommend it.)
I hope this information is helpful to you! Please call me anytime if you have questions or need more information - 978-985-7217.
Smile!
Elaine
Hotel and Accommodations
Tuition for the 5-day Certification Course includes everything except travel and accommodations. You are welcome to stay anywhere you desire for the class. The class is located in Kittery, Maine - just across the bridge from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Kittery and Portsmouth are big tourist attractions, so there are countless options available to you.
The three hotels that our students really liked are the Sheraton, the Coachmen Inn, and the Port Inn.
The Sheraton:
The nicest hotel in downtown Portsmouth is the Sheraton. This is also the closest to Alissa’s place – about five minutes by car. It is pretty pricey, but beautiful. To make a reservation at the Sheraton, call 603-431-2300. The website for the Sheraton is: http://www.sheratonportsmouth.com.
The Coachmen Inn:
If you decide you want to stay in Kittery, The Coachman Inn is located in Kittery within about 5 minutes of class. The website is: http://www.coachmaninn.net/
The contact information for the Coachman Inn is:
380 US Route 1 Kittery, Maine 03904
Phone: 207.439.4434
Toll Free: 800.824.6183
The rates are usually under $100. They will offer a discount for Triple A members. Be sure to mention that you are with Alissa Cohen and ask the manager for a discount.
The Port Inn:
We have had students also stay at a hotel in Portsmouth known as the Port Inn. The price range is $79 - $89 for the Port Inn. The Port Inn is located about two miles from downtown Portsmouth – so just slightly farther from class than the Sheraton. You must mention Alissa Cohen when you call. The phone number is: 800-282-7678. The people at this hotel (especially Doreen) are very nice. The room rate is usually $79 for one person and $89 for two people. They do often raise rates during peak season. The website is: http://www.theportinn.com.
To Rent a House:
If people want to share a house, I would recommend contacting SeaSide Rentals in York. They are the largest property manager for seasonal rentals. If you want to share space, renting a house is often a little nicer than sharing a hotel room. The website is: www.seasiderentals.com.
I hope this information is helpful to you!

I just read this thread and ran out to the mailbox to pull out my deposit for a room at the Enchanted Nights B&B- before I send it, I'd like to know if anyone has stayed there and what (if anything) was not so great about it? I'm not as picky as some people- but my husband and 2 year old daughter might be coming along for the trip, and I do want a clean and safe place for her to be in. Thanks for any feedback!

The concerns were in regards to cleanliness and general disrepair.
Did I mention that there are lots of choices available in the Kittery and Portsmouth area? ;) Wherever you decide to stay, we just want you to be happy.
Feel free to call me directly if you need any help - 978-985-7217. The five days in class go by really fast. You are going to have a great time!
Best wishes,
Elaine
