    Default Any oregon raw foodists?

Hi I'm in the Albany/Corvallis area and am looking to connect with a raw food group. I am new to this and would love the support. Is anyone out there nearby?

I know there are. Personally I'd like to learn more about Oregon and possibly visit soon.

    Hello Sunshine and everyone else,

I am still searching out raw food groups in the Portland area. Portland was quite the mecca for raw food around 2001, when Portland hosted for sseveral years an international raw food festival. Unfortunately, before I was involved with raw food.

I just finished Alissa's intensive training in Maine, and it was GREAT! On July 8 I will be teaching a class to provide support/training in going and staying raw, and you are welcome to attend if you so wish--my contact information is on the teacher page under Oregon. I hope to provide on-going support through my coaching. Here is a web link for something incredible happening the end of August--too good to be true! http://www.rawspirit.net/index.html is the website.

Narz--Oregon is an incredible place to live. Hope you get here before too long.

    Thumbs up

    Hello Sunshine ,

My wife and I are 4 weeks into this raw stuff. We are in the Portland area. We keep snooping around for raw events or groups but haven't really found any yet aside from one we attended at Wild Oats - which was pretty good. :)

Nancy ...we will be looking for you on the teachers page and the 8July class...

    Narz...You would love oregon....

I came to Oregon in 1985 from central Illinois, and still sometimes feel like I am on vacation. You can find oceans, mountains, the desert, the valley, snow, mostly light rain, and we even see sunshine sometimes. You will find a real mix of opinions and ways of being in the world, from very liberal to very conservative, from very tolerant to judging. There are cowboys working the ranches in some parts of the state, and the finest in dining and the arts. I always knew I belonged in the Pacific NW, and love it to this day.

I agree...I have lived in or traveled through most regions in the U.S., and while there is beauty everywhere, I am hard pressed to find an area like the Pac.N.W....I always come back. The incredible diversity that can be found here, not only geographically, or climate, ghost towns to nite-life, literally every conceivable outdoor activity, (or indoor for that matter), all of this, all of Oregon can be as inclusive, exclusive or reclusive as you want it to be. There is something for everyone here.
Thats one mans opinion anyway :)

There is a Portland Raw Yahoo group. Just search for "Portland raw" on the Yahoo groups page.

My husband travelled through Oregon years ago on a long road trip and said he left his soul there. He's always said that's where he'll end up eventually.

Our beautfiul Rowan C is from the Portland area.

I do know they have a huge raw food community in the Portland area, and that is where they used to hold the very big Raw food meetup every year until just a couple of years ago, now Cheir Soria is doing a raw food thing in August in Calif.

trying to make it to that one this year.

YEP, Rawspirit is Matt Monarch's site, he was up in Seattle just a couple of weeks ago with a lecture, and some truly yummy food, had Angel Stokes with him, and a wonderful raw chef too, I believe her name was Karen.

Marlene's market and deli, is located in Tacoma and Federal Way, and they often (about once a month) have a raw food lecture, usually great ones, Paul Nison, Victoria Boutenko, Matt Monarche, and our own Rawkinlocs have presented there.
