Obsolete kitchen appliances
So how long before you raw folks got rid of your microwaves and toasters, fry daddies, george foremans etc...
Did you hang on to them for a while "just in case" you digressed?
Also, what does everyone do with all that extra cabinet space. If everything is fresh do you even bothering storing more than nuts , seasonings and a few dried fruits
Once I become more raw I'll probably remove the doors off some cabinets and display books and plants and maybe even decorative glass bottles
What about deep freezers, do you dehydrate and freeze? Buy bulk fruit from SAM's Club and freeze for smoothies, presoak farm fresh foods then freeze???
It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

I still have all that stuff becuase my brother eats SAD and my mom eats some cooked food, though she is mostly raw. My brother does have to use the microwave in the garage though so we don't radiate the whole house. We use the microwave that's built in the kitchen for storage. It's just another cupboard!

Wanted to bump this up for additional responses?
Thanks

We got rid of our microwave even before going raw just because of the dangers I had read about of microwave cooking; toaster oven we still have because the kids use it sometimes; never owned a Foreman grill or deep freezer, but if I had a deep freezer I could possibly see storing stuff in there such as excess bulk nuts, bananas, etc.
As far as "all that extra cabinet space", I don't really have any what I'd consider extra. I mean, the old condiments and canned goods were just replaced with jars of nuts, seeds, etc. and healthier condiments (olive oil, nama shoyu, agave, coconut oil, etc.).

when I first heard about raw 5 years ago, I tossed all of that stuff, turned off the breakers to my stove and oven, my microwave is built in and I put my spices in it, put my grains in my oven, put a cutting board over my stove.
I put all of my pots and pans (revere ware, limited edition, 1976 copper and brass) into the attic, and I got rid of all of my heating type gadgets, my fancy shmancy espresso maker, coffee pots, chambords, sandwich makers, and all the things that go with them, popcorn makers, coffee grinders, steamers, rice cookers, etc.
I was never much of a horder, I only had once small cabinet as a pantry, I have very few cabinets in my kitchen, although my kitchen is large, my house was built as a party house, with lots of open walls and display space, and shelves.
so now I have alot more things out on my counter, large containers of fruit and veggies, I took out my cute little pub table, and replaced it with a nice large chopping block.
so I have no extra cabinet space, I had to buy a deep freeze and another fridge just to put food into. And I still could use more room. We are thinking of remodling and adding a thousand square feet or more to our home, so alot of it will be more kitchen -- specifically prep space for food and rinsing sinks, etc.
I love to remodle, I think I'm Mrs. Winchester reincarnated. LOL

RP we're remodeling right now. I think you guys need a nice large greenhouse/conservatory addition to extend Dragggon's gardening. Even the high end ones can be more economical per square foot than traditional rooms.
Currently arguing with the hubby about wanting to completely get rid of the microwave in our new kitchen, but he's holding on to wanting one and I really want NO microwave - any ideas how to put him over the edge to no microwave?
Women's shelters or shelters for people fleeing domestic violence is a great place to donate all those used kitchen appliances, to assist people in setting up a new home. Most have places that items can be dropped off at.

You got rid of your coffee grinder?? They're great for grinding nuts when you have a crappy blender
-
The deep freezer is my best friend. Cause I love frozen fruit in my smoothies, and my side by side fridge doesn't hold much.
I have a built in and a free standing microwave. The free standing microwave will make a great donation or I'll send with my daughter to college unless i can convince her to avoid the waves altogether.
Small oven great for nothing much
I literally love my pampered chef stones and experiment yesterday with "warming" eggplant soaked in olive oil and seasoning mixture. It came out very tasty, but I think the stone still heated above 115 though the oven never registered that high.
When I get a good routine with raw I guess I will regift my stones and quality skillets
I'll save my boiling pots for distilling water and blanching stuff that I might want to freeze and then sprout later.
Wanting to get rid of my leaching plastic storage dishes, but since I'm not microwaving I wonder if there is a probablme with using them for cold storage?
Hmmmm

I really don't think my dh or ds will ever go raw so I probably won't ever be able to get rid of things.
-
I still have my microwave and stove. My friend/roommate still eats a SAD diet. I know for sure he'll never go raw. He's a meat-and-potatoes person. Until I move out of the house, the microwave and stove stays.

Just to clarify, I tossed out my coffee grinder that was used, and smelled of coffee. I bought three new ones, to use for spices and such. So I am not without a coffee grinder, I am only without the one that will always smell like coffee. YIKES!!!

I happened to be on the Boys and Girls Club website this orning and on their wish list they are requesting gently used kitchen cookware and appliances.
Tax deductible donation

Well I said I wanted to get rid of the stove and my husband said no way, what will I cook with? I said you got the George Foreman, but he said what if I want to boil something or whatever. He said when he gets raw 100% too we will kick the stove to the curb. I said can you live without the microwave and he said nope not yet!
This is what we have parted with:
toaster
sandwich maker
waffle maker
alot of pans
coffe pot (we never used it anyways unless we had company)
stirfryer
We still have (not because of me):
stove
something similiar to a George Foreman
microwave
can opener (which we have lost and can't find, LOL)
Pots cause I still use them to make fermented foods.
a few pans

I'm a less is more type and now I have a food processor and juicer. I'll create a cabinet space for them tommorow the counter is way to cluttered.
