Smile Can you fatten me up ?

    Hi Everyone,

I lost 3 lbs this week. Why... I don't know. Obvious to me I didn't get enough calories. I ate basically all the foods I normally eat. I did have a bit of stress on Monday and yesterday.

Can you suggest a sure thing to bounce me back up the chart?

Do you have a high calorie recipe or drink that can help?

I'm going to try and eat a little more today but as many of you know the longer I'm raw the less food I seem to need.

I've maintained my current weight (170lbs) for the last 100 days.

This is my first scare......I don't want to lose any more weight.

    Just for reference I'm 6'-3" and 170lbs. I've lost 40 lbs since January 2004.

Peace and a bit of help my friends,

    M.B.

    Hey MB,

Can you tell us what you eat in a typical day? That'd help a lot.

Maybe you need more bananas ;)

    Yes, M.B,
    What do you eat now?
Are you eating enough greens and nuts?
    What's your typical day?

    Default I feel your gain

    Hi Everyone,

This is what I had to eat yeseterday:
1 whole jar of raw almomd nut butter
2 huge mixed green salads with olive oil
    2 avacados
    2 garden fresh tomatoes
1 litre of my green shake...trust me if it's green I blend it. Good way to clean out my refriderator.
1 glass of Saintsbury Pinot Noir, yummy.

    Peace,

    M.B.

Wow, well loads of greens :) :)

    Large amount of good fats...

    What about fruit?
Maybe you need some easily assimilatable (is that a word?) sugars?

    Hi M.B,
    Here’s my take...
You can eat whatever you want, unless your gorging yourself your going to lose on raw until your body gets to where it wants.
It may gain it back after the detox, ya know about that? Losing your false body? Basically it’s this; you'll lose all the weight, your body could get really thin and then on the same food but less of it you will gain some Weight back and get to your weight you should be. This will usually only happen in the extreme when you are 100 percent raw.

Secondly, men lose weight quicker (i know ladies, its not fair, but it true!)
You seem to be eating enough, - a whole jar of almond butter -
    And greens, avocados...
Really you can eat more and take in more calories, more nuts, dehydrated food, etc... But that’s not really the healthy way to be doing this, just because you need to gain the weight. It sounds like your eating enough. I think your body needs to lose the weight.

This can be hard for men.
My husband went through it, lost 30 pounds, was a bit freaked and then put back on about 10 or 15 after he detoxed.

You can try doing more sweet fruits as thunderdancer suggested.
Mixing greens and nuts also, certain ones like kale and macadamia together....

I just looked at what you wrote again, are you eating fruit at all? Fruit has more calories then greens... your diet looks pretty good though in the green sense so thunderdancer may be right about the sugar.
Especially if you’re really active, you’re probably blowing through the sugars...
But my advice would be don’t just eat to gain weight; you’ll be forcing your body to do something it doesn’t want to do right now. I would wait and see how it goes and just keep your diet healthy with plenty of greens and nuts and more fruit.

    Best,

    Smile Thanks Alissa

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the imput, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I've been raw for 9 months..... will the detox take much longer. I know I went through detox early on while raw. I didn't think I'd reach another level. Early on raw I had all the classic detox symptoms.(aches and pains etc.)

I was a little freaked out because I had maintained my new weight for so long(100 days) I didn't think I'd lose anymore.

I'm not getting much fruit. Usually every other day. I don't eat as many bananas as I used to.

I'm a big kale fan. My New Bedford/ Fall River friends love it.

I know the almond butter thing was a bit radical. I just couldn't stop.

I'll take your advice and just keep doing what i've been doing.

    Peace in the Middle East,

    M.B.

    Monkeyboy,

Regarding your detox, I have heard that the longer you stay raw, the deeper your body detoxifies, sometimes taking years to throw off things like heavy metals stored at the cellular level.

It is said that it take 7 years to fully rebuild the body with all new cells...

Don't want to freak yout MB but yes detox/healing will keep happening.

    Your weight should stabilise though.

Kirk that is a fantastic picture, you have me giggling - i'm never going to sleep tonight
