I like ground flax in my salads and I usually buy it that way. Today I decided to grind them in an antique mortar and pestle that I've had for years and used only for ornamental. As I was pounding and grinding away, I had a deep feeling of contentment...imagining others using this antique long ago, working for my food and feeling kindred with those women in other places that must out of necessity, grind their seeds. My friends would think it cheesy if I shared this with them but I knew I could give voice to it on this forum. Many, many thanks to all who make this possible for me.

Awesome. I have most all the modern equipment, omega, cuisan art, vita mix, etc....but my husband and I collect antique 40's and 50's items and we have come across some awesome utensils that I enjoy using in my kitchen.

When I beat egg whites by hand using cream of tartar I remember my grandmother who taught me how to make deserts.

It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

Cool Lee. Just out of curisoity, what was the mortar and pestle made out of? Did it flake off at all? I've actually been wanting one for the exact same purpose (to grind flaxseeds).
