I know most people like the MC. I adore it. I'm looking forward to doing it again in the future. But until then... what are some good short ones? I am thinking about doing one day a week juice/water/... what? Just to keep it up. Which ones do you like?

I've heard a lot about the MC, but what's so great about it?

I have been doing a weekly 24 hour fast, starting Mondays at 12 noon until Tuesdays 12 noon. I usually just do water and a bit of honey when necessary, but this time my son decided to join me so we did all kinds of fun juices since it was his first time fasting.

He was so cute straining the orange juice and when we were ready to break the fast, he brought me a small bowl of watermelon and him a bowl of grapes. We said a blessing and "clinked" our fruit together. The other two kids watched and laughed and now the younger brother wants to join in on the fun next week. The coolest thing is my little guy didn't complain or whine AT ALL about being hungry.

I plan to add a monthly 3 day moon fast starting this month. I have done this before and don't expect my son to do it unless he feels led to.

I remember the first time I fasted as a youngster on Yom Kippur it was miserable. You see the Jewish people will dry fast - no water or anything - for 24 hours, but they eat horribly before and after (my family at least) so it makes for a very uncomfortable, unpleasurable time. Even pregnant women join in on this fast, which I think isn't the best idea if they won't even have water. I read Jinjee did some fasting during her pregnancy but at least she hydrated herself.

A fast is whatever you choose it to be. You can choose to go on a pre-defined fast (like the MC) or you can choose what you think is best for you. Sometimes, you can fast for a few days drinking water and juice a variety of fruits/veggies.

I like the MC.. but I also like to just fast drinking water and little to no juice. The juice helps if your blood sugar gets low and you start to feel bad.

I usually fast on green juices and lemon water.
