Default Any one here with contacts??

I was wondering if anyone here wears contacts? I do occasionally, but would really like to wear them more often. Before I was raw I had some problems with my eyes being sensitive to the contacts being in my eyes. That seems to be more pronounced after being raw. I'm wondering if my body is rejecting them now because of the chemicals in them and because they aren't natural. I wore them a couple of days ago and my eyes got really red and irritated the next day an a half. Suggestions? Has anyone ever experienced, after going raw, that thier body rejected the contacts because they were a foreign object?

    YES, ABSOLUTELY,

Dragggon and I both used to wear contacts, ALL the time, the more raw we got, the less we could or wanted to wear them, now we never wear them, Dragggon wears glasses to read and drive, I wear glasses all the time, except to read, so there you have it,

I believe as you said, that they are a foreign substance, and our bodies are rejecting them. good thing too, our smart bodies, thank goddess.

My contacts are definitely irritating my eyes a lot now that I am raw. I never really had problems before going raw and I've been wearing contacts for many years. I didn't really put the connection together, but as you both have said...I guess my body is trying to reject something that is foreign. I guess it's time to find some cute glasses that I can start wearing all the time!!!
Another thing…I’ve heard that after being raw for sometime, your vision can improve?!? What do you think about this – I personally haven’t experienced this, but I sure hope to.

    Wink Eyesight improving too!

I have been reading George Malkmus's Hallelujah Diet- 85%+ Raw plan and his vision corrected itself- even at 85% sooooo......imagine what 100% could do!

    Simply amazing :)

Also, there are so many things that I look at differently- chemicals, plastics, dyes.....now that I am raw- I guess even my contacts are keeping my eyes from breathing properly and trapping particles under them- not a natural state...hmmmmm? Thanks for bringing this up :)

I used to wear contact lenses, but I got rid of them and I almost never wear glasses. I don't use them for driving and most of the time I don't even use them to watch TV. The only time I really need them is for singing at church (so I can see the words on the screen) and for driving in adverse weather or to places I'm not familiar with.

You might want to try using a simple saline solution, just water and salt, to rinse and maybe soak them in before you put them in. You could be sensitive to the disinfecting/cleaning solution.

I was actually wondering about that. I know there is a natural (not exactly sure how natural) contact solution at Wild Oats that I was thinking about trying. I've also contemplated the saline solution, thought, too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks to the rest of you for confirming that it might actually be that my body really is rejecting my contacts. I was beginning to wonder what was going on because I really do want to wear them, but my body will dictate what is allowed or not.

Exclamation I forgot to share this information!

Here is a follow up article on B&L saline causing infections.....hmmmm? something to ponder also about this correct your vision program....anyone ever tried this?

    Here is the info.

Bausch & Lomb recently stopped U.S. sales of the contact lens cleaner ReNu with MoistureLoc.

The cleanser has been linked to an outbreak of Fusarium keratitis, a severe fungal eye infection. The infections can cause pain and even blindness.

However, the company may have been aware as early as last fall of infections among contact lens users in Hong Kong.

    Warned in November

Health officials in Hong Kong warned Bausch & Lomb of lens-related infections in November. Bausch & Lomb filed reports of the 25 cases with the U.S. FDA in December, but claimed that no cause was known and no conclusions could be drawn.

    Infections on the Increase

The number of infections in the United States has risen to 186, spanning 29 states.

    Dr. Mercola's Comment:

Recently the nasty fungal infection, Fusarium keratitis, connected with Bausch and Lomb's popular MoistureLoc for cleaning contact lenses was in the news. Apparently, we shouldn't have been surprised about this new American outbreak at all.

Bausch and Lomb stopped shipments to eastern Asia three months ago, after a significant outbreak of eye infections was reported in Singapore. This reignited a similar investigation launched nearly a year ago in Hong Kong. Of the patients interviewed in the Hong Kong probe, 40 percent of them used MoistureLoc.

So far, almost 200 patients have a confirmed or suspected case of keratitis and eight required cornea transplants. Without treatment, a patient could become blind or, at the very least, scar the cornea.

So here is yet another great reason to consider the Secrets to Regaining Your Vision Naturally Program to help you correct your vision so you can toss out your contact lenses or glasses for good.

How the Program Improved My Own Vision

Despite my dedication to healthy living, about eight years ago I started noticing a progressive worsening of my eyesight. It became more difficult for me to read fine print and reading a menu in many dimly light restaurants became nearly impossible.

After many years of searching for a way to correct the problem naturally, Dr. Larry Clapp told me about an eyesight teacher in California. This teacher taught me the important visual habits (all covered in the Secrets of Regaining Your Vision Naturally Program) that helped restore my eyesight and helped me read without the use of glasses.

I learned the techniques of pioneering medical doctor and ophthalmologist Dr. William Bates, who dedicated his life to learning why people develop problems with their eyesight.

I was so impressed by my own results and the research my team and I did on the history and success of the Bates Method that I decided to offer this powerful natural vision improvement training to Mercola.com readers (at a far more affordable rate than I paid for it, as you will see.)

How You Can Toss Out Your Glasses or Contacts for Good -- Guaranteed

There's NO reason for you to waste thousands of dollars over the course of your life on glasses or contacts, NO reason to risk injuries from glasses or LASIK surgery, and NO reason to put up with the hassle of glasses and contacts anymore:

The Secrets of Regaining Your Vision Naturally Program -- based on the very same scientific tenets that corrected my vision too -- requires a relative low commitment of time on your part, is NOT about doing any "eye exercises," and has already helped many tens of thousands of other people improve their vision (check out What Others Have to Say when you click to the page above!)

You'll see that, for about the cost of just one eye doctor appointment and new glasses (which you could eliminate the need to pay for ever again) the program is truly a no-brainer for those who wear glasses or contacts ... so I strongly encourage you to learn more about the Secrets of Regaining Your Vision Naturally Program now.

I've worn contacts for over 20 years and not had any trouble with them. I've got Posterior Blepharitis (I've had bouts of this for about 8 years now) which is an inflammation of the eyelids that doesn't seem to get better with or without the wearing the lenses. We shall see, hopefully raw will help this irritating condition and my eyesight!
