    Default sprouting question

I know there are TONS of threads on this topic and I've been searching them all afternoon, but I still have a question. I'm just getting ready to start sprouting some alfalfa seeds, pumpkin seeds and several types of nuts. Do they need to be kept in a single layer rather than all stacked up in a glass jar or bowl?

They must be in a single layer - otherwise they will go moldy.

This is my question. If you use the "jar" method that so many people recommend, how do you keep them in a single layer. I'm afraid they will mold this way.

As long as they can drain easily, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It doesn't have to be a *single* layer so much as a thin layer.

    Default how to

Use the large mouth mason jars. Put 1 cup of seeds in jar. Add good water about 3 inches above seeds let soak 2 to 3 hours unless you are using wheat berries (soak overnight). Make sure to cover mouth of the jar with wedding veil material or cheese cloth and seal with rubber band, string or lid lip. After they have soaked drain the water off. Rinse your sprouts and place your jar upside down on a 45 degree angle. Be sure that the mouth of your jar is not more then 1/3 with seeds. You want your seeds to breath. Rinse seeds twice a day. Ready to eat when the reach the desired maturity.

    Hope this helps!
