I am new to this. I have been reading post for quite a few weeks. I have been attempting to do raw, but haven't taken the plunge. I have been eating raw for breakfast and I always drink green smoothies and eat fruit for snacks, but dinner has been hard for me. I have a family and it is hard to cook for them and me not eat them. My biggest concern is my 5 yr. old son. He has had eczema since he was at least 2. We don't use any medication. I am trying to control it through diet. I am thinking I really need to put him on a raw diet as well. He love fruits and veggies and will eat raw for breakfast. My problem is I want some fun stuff in his diet and not just a salad. All the recipes look great on here, but we don't have a ton of money( I have 5 kids of my own and 2 foster kids). Anyway I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas for cheap meals, but that are also a little more exciting than a salad. And if anyone has been cured of their eczema. I do know he is sensitive to gluten ( he is off all that) and dairy and strawberries and raspberries. We have been vegan for 11 years.

As for recipes, you'd be amazed by how well children take to just eating plain fruits and veggies. Try sprouting... your son (and other children) will probably get a kick out of growing sprouts which they can then just snack on!

preparing both raw and cooked
Here's what's working so far for my DH and I as far as mealtimes together. We prepare both cooked and raw. For example, Thursday night I made Alissa's chili recipe, and my DH cooked spaghetti for himself and a friend that came over. So they had Cincinnati chili (chili on top of spaghetti with cheese and sour cream) and I had raw chili. It worked great! I didn't even want their stuff. And the week before, I made Alissa's refried beans and Spanish rice, and they had it wrapped in tortillas with whatever they wanted on top, and I had mine completely raw. It seems to work really well for us. We've only been doing this for a few weeks, so it may get harder finding recipes to do this with, but for now, it's great. Hope this helps!

spiralizing a zucchini is much less expensive that wheat pasta, plus no electricity to use to boil any water, and tastes just as good, marinara sauce is easy to make, and again, no cooking, so no electricity, plus it is tasty.
having a lot of fresh fruits and veggies on hand is great, making applesauce, is fun for kids and even when I was cooked and my son was little I used to make it by hand, and added a dash of cinnamon to it, yummmyyyyy.
enchiladas in Alissa's book, yummy, everybody pretty much loves those, and you can add anything you want inside. also any kind of wrap, using a large collard leaf, just put stuff inside, olives, chopped tomatos, shredded carrot, a dash of salt, voila' instant dinner.
So, you don't have to have just salads.

My RVD said vitamin D is good for excema (sp?).
Nut pat√©s on raw crackers are good. Both the pat√©s and raw crackers are inexpensive.
Cinnamon, apples and honey cobbler with nut, cinnamon honey crust is good.
raw soups are good, just blender anything.
Raw lasagne is not to expensive and helps with the gooey cravings.
Make sure you are getting your B-12 methylcobalamin.
