    Default 100% RAW or what?

I was just reading a couple of posts, and I thought I would share my opinion.

I see people write how they eat raw for breakfast and lunch, and then they justify eating cooked for dinner, or on the weekend, or a planned cheat, or for holidays, or birthdays, or weddings, or reunions, or baptisms, or bat mitzvahs, or or or,

Trust me on this, there is an excuse for every day of the year, and it IS an excuse.

Now, don't get me wrong, I've done it too, that is how I can recognize these excuses.

it's the same with all things, that we really are afraid to do, for what ever reason, it is human behavior, a very specific science indeed.

Humans feel the need to justify their actions, I included, and they feel a need to get an "OKAY" from their supposed peers in this action, so we rationalize, and explain and defend and justify our actions, until we have a bunch of people who agree with us, then we think,"Well, if this many people agree with me, then this must be okay to do. or to continue doing."

But what happens is that no one benefits from this justification.

When you eat cooked food, you are eating dead food, plane and simple, when you are eating living or raw food, you are eating life.

so you can eat either a way to live or a way to die, it really is that simple.

and YES, I believe that eating raw is the best way to eat, 100% all the time, every day, and I've done it, not done it, done it, not done it, on off on off, justified my actions, and explained and defended my choices, but it all boils down to

if you really want to do something, --- you will
if you don't really want to do somethig --- you will find an excuse.

    it's that easy.

it's not your hubby or your kids or yor mother or your friends, or your boss, or your work, or your job, or your career, or your doctor, or or or, it is YOUR body, your decision, and your choice RAW or not!

If you are having an emotional reaction to my post, it is because you are not doing it. that is also a normal human behavior, you may find yourself being angry, or sad, or frustrated, or upset, or depressed, or whatever but if you are having an emotional response, then I've hit a nerve, and that nerve is sayning, "Yeah, but", which means you will justify, explain or defend the one excuse or ten excuses you use to not eat raw.

I know this, because I've used them all before. I'm the Queen of excuses. LOL

RP..I Love this post. Yes-I've been there-done that as well. No more "buts" for me. My excuse was always-*stress*-too stressed to eat Raw. Well-after a lot of soul searching & listening to my BODY-It is the opposite..

I am stressed when I do not eat RAW !!!..It's just that simple.

My new mantra-Raw food is MY comfort food.
    I hear ya & I like it....

Default Thank you, RP, this resonates with me

Thanks, RP, i found this very helpful. It has reminded me how fantastic I felt when I was 100% raw. Being 75-80% is so different in this respect from being 100% raw.

I stopped being 100% because I was so discouraged at putting on weight (and i really do need to lose it).

My problem is finding raw food that is filling and satisfying but does not involve nuts. I'm sure it's nuts which pile the weight on for me. There's no real raw substitute for the comfort and nourishment of cooked legumes, I've found -- I just eat nuts instead. I also looooooove soups and the raw ones just don't seem to cut it, somehow.

But -- no more negatives -- I'm going to go back to 100% starting tomorrow.

    Love and blessings,

    lily

PS I agree with you, too, Lanasq -- thanks for your insight. NOT eating raw is very stressful!

    yes your right
I caught myself making a patatoe salad for a friend and trying to justify eating it just a little to see if i was making it right. Then i watched my brothers eat a sausage egg and bisket sandwich out of the microwave. thinging at least the ppatatoe salad is all organic and only the veganaise and patatoes were processes and it looks fresh. i wanted to eat it. but then i realized i haven't eaten all day no wonder i'm drooling over this not to metion i'm barely 2 weeks raw and not over my cooked addiction. and i remeber why i decided to go raw simply because if i eat raw i'll never never have to worry about getting fat and unhealthy again. and most importantly i will not try to be raw i simply will be raw. no other options. you know "just to it"

    RP - love the post.
You are so right ... It's all in what you choose, isn't it.

When folks ask me about being raw, then go on to explain how they couldn't do it because of this, that, and what they just can't give up ... my standard response now is .. with a smile .. "choosing to eat dead things or choosing to eat live things is totally your choice isn't it. I hope I've heightened your awareness. If you want any more info or help starting out, let me know". I usually don't get a lot of negative response.

but you're so right, it's all in what you choose, and an excuse is a choice.
    Cheers

    Lily,

I don't eat nuts or if I do it is very occasionally. I do NOT do well with them and my nursing baby has a problem when I eat them.

There are so many delicious foods ot there. You really aren't limited without nuts. You just have to be creative.

Can you eat avocados? You can do some amazing things with them and with coconuts. You shouldn't feel deprived at all. :)

    RP,

That is so true!! We justify all of our actions, don't we?

The one thing that I really notice is if I am 100% I am so joyfull and happy all the time. I smile more, I laugh more etc..

When I am not 100% I am happy but it isn't the same. I am not as peaceful or filled with joy. It just doesn't bubble over like when I am 100%

    Thanks for the reminder!

    Default Mmmm, avocados

Yes, faithf4u, that's a very good idea, I think avocados are my answer... Also I'm going to try using sunflower seeds again, and lots of sprouted beans in salads --

I'm motivated again now, thanks to this post -- thank you RP, lanasq and faith4u and everyone else --

Thanks for posting this RP! I've wanted to say something like this for a long time, but was worried about offending people and making them angry.

I honestly don't mind eating 75% raw :) I still cook food every now and then for my daughter because if not then she will eat nothing. I feel so bad when she asks me that she wants soup (cooked) and I say no? I just can't So I make soup and everyone eats from it We eat a cooked (small) meal a day just because we still like to sit down and eat at the table together as a family. When eating raw, it seems hard to eat at the table all together, say a blessing prayer and be together kwim? For us is more of the spiritual aspect of eating a cooked meal AND sitting at the table together as a family :)

oh also, eating the way we are eating, I mean we are still getting plenty of enzymes, we eat lots of fruits and a great variety of veggies a day. A cooked meal is like a treat that we still enjoy to do, but don't get me wrong, I too love raw. Sometimes it seems hard to eat raw when we are at a family reunion. We latinos do a HUGE potluck, get together, party, whatever you can call it and cook lots of food and it is part of our culture to share and be together, bbquing together, etc. It's like our trademark :) I love raw but I love the cook foods as part of my culture ;)

Default 100% cooked - perhaps not for everyone

I am a person who gets very obsessed with doing things. I found that when I was 100% raw, I was extremely obsessed with having to eat 100% and I felt guilty at the thought of even eating raw. As such, I've come to the point where I eat about 85% raw because my mind is free - not obsessed, not generating negative thoughts etc. I also came to this decision because I came to realize that mental stress can just be as damaging or more damaging to the body's health then the harmful as eating a bit of cooked food.
