    Default Composting coconut shells?

I have just started a compost pile and would like to know if you can compost coconut shells? The seem to be so big, how can they compost over long term?

    Thanks in advance,

I use a super hot composting method-- in a round drum that I turn daily. So I can get usable conpost in about a month. And coco shells do compost in this thing, but take more than 30 days. :) I'm not sure how long they would take in an open compost pile type thing, if that's what you use.

I recomend breaking them up a bit befor you dump them in the compost pile or you will find them still kinda whole even a year later they take quite a while to break down

YEP, Dragggon is right, they take a while to break down, but we compost everything, or burn it, we only have about 1/2 can of trash a month, if that much, unless we are doing remodleing, which we have been doing for a while now.

but as far as personaly home garbage, practically zilch.
