Help please! Veggie juice recipes needed
Raw family,
I need your help desperately! I was attempting to do a juice fast and I have already screwed up! The main problem I found is that I began to grow weary of the sweet taste of fruit juices and started desiring something different. I'm sure I could have (and probably should have) just drank water when I wanted something but didn't want fruit juice, but I thought if I could find some viable veggie juice recipes then I could switch up with those as well.
Thing is, every veggie juice combination I made I didn't like. I really don't like blended salads...but I need to find some veggie combos that are actually pleasant to drink and not feel like I'm choking it down. (*gags)
I really want to do this juice fast and I want to have more than just fruit juices to choose from. I even tried green juice but...wasn't feeling that at all (I used kale, spinach, cucumber, a little carrot and parsley)
Can anyone help me? Are veggie juices an acquired taste or is there something out there that even the most finicky person drank and actually LIKED? Any tips or little tricks to making veggie juice more palatable?
Looking forward to any and all responses!
Thanks,
Cherie

Hi Cherie,
I moved your post here under juicing, hope thats ok!
Here are some combinations below that Kirk posted in another thread.
Also my favorites if you dont want to do a bunch of veggie combos are tomato juice - just straight tomatoes and then a cucumber juice.
I know what you mean about the sweetness; you need to break it up. The tomato juice is so great.
1.carrot 10oz., spinach 6oz.
2.carrot 9oz., fennel 7oz.
3.carrot 7oz., celery 4oz., parsley 2oz.,spinach 3oz.
4.carrot 8oz., beet 3oz., celery 5oz.
5.carrot 10oz., beet 3oz., cucumber 3oz.
6.carrot 8oz., radish 4oz., lettuce 4oz.
7. pomegranate 16oz.
8. carrot 11oz., beet 3oz., coconut 2oz.
9. carrot 9oz., beet 3oz., lettuce 4oz.
10. carrot 9oz., dandelion 3oz., lettuce 4oz.
11. carrot 8oz., lettuce 5oz., spinach 3oz.
12. carrot 11oz., dandelion 3oz., turnip 2oz.

Okay, I feel like such a ditz right about now! I totally forgot this new section was here!
Thanks for moving it and thanks for the suggestion about the tomato or cucumber juice! I'll give 'em a try.
Also, thanks for pasting the combo's from Kirk's post...But those were to boost iron for anemia...I'm looking for tastiness! LOL!!

3 medium carrots
1/2 cucumber
1/3 stalk celery
2 or 3 sprigs of parsley

Will do! Thanks Kirk!

The ones in Kirk's post were to help with anemia. I'm sure they are just good for you in general but I wanted you to know why he listed those. I did carrots, apple and spinach today and it was quite palatable. I like carrots, celery and apple, too.

Kristi & Rawkinlocs,
Thought I'd give you a heads up (and a little advice) about Norman Walkers Juice recipes. Norman Walker was more concerned with results than he was taste. I found that out pretty quick when I tried his mixs. The way I found that makes them more palatable to me is to use carrot and apple as a base when you can and slowly work up to adding more of the less tasty stuff. I find that doing it this way is less of a shock to my tastebuds.

oh, remind me sometimes to tell you what happened when I tried to cure a case of pinworms with garlic. :)

heya Cheri,
well done on the juice fasting intentions!
Just wanted to say I used to hate veg juice (well the ones I made), I did 2 juice fasts and ended up pretty much all fruited out. Then when I got a proper juicer (I was using a blender with a seive!) I started to drink a pint of straight carrot and apple juice when I went raw 1st - it's good, quite sweet I guess tho, put more carrots than apples though and add celery to boost it and take the sweet away.
In fact, never mind the apples if you don't want sweet lol, carrot is great, especially if they're organic, more tasty.
*oops, just saw Kirk said the same thing, ah well, it's my experience too :)
Yeah - beet is fun to juice too like Kirk said on the other thread, wicked colour!
Here's a good link to some more recipes to try...

the sparkling memory looks good to me, the super 8 one too.. do you have juice bars where you live? Be great if you could go and note what combos they do - even try some out.

How's it going Rawkin? Did you do your juice fast? I just had the best juice-meal! (a bit too sweet for me really) it was 6 carrots and 1 beet mixed with 2 tsp. Udo's Choice Oil and 2 T. Dr. Schulze's Superfood! Living Nutrition! A real blood-builder and liver cleanser! :)

Nah, I gave up on that juice fast a long time ago! I'm thinking of trying again, though. I've been really bad and I really feel like I need to clean out a bit. But I HATE my juicer - it's a centrifugal one that is a pain in the butt to clean, it's a cheaper model and it doesn't produce very much juice.
I could blend and strain, but that's a pain too. With homeschooling 3 children, looking after a younger one and all the other things that go along with motherhood, I just get too lazy to do too much work. I need to invest in a better juicer, but we're on a limited budget as we save towards our big move next summer!
So, juice fasting is probably out for me for now...I'm just trying to stay raw at this point.
Thanks so much for asking! :)
