    Default Viking Blender vs. VitaMix

I went to a nice Kitchen store looking for a vitamix, ready to take the plunge. They said they don't have any but that the Viking is just as pwerful... does anyone know if the Viking compares? I did buy it because it was A LOT cheaper, but the fact that it was about 1/2 the price of the VitaMix, it made me wonder... Anyone know?

    Default Well..

I have just a plain old blender.
    My grandmother has a Vitamix.
I've used both, and frankly, I'm just as happy with my blender. In fact, I like it more.

I think it's a matter of taste. The Vitamix supposedly is more powerful, but I didn't notice any difference at all in the time it took to make smoothies, or the energy it took to smooth out frozen fruits.

So if it was ME, I'd get the less expensive one.

I bought a NewGena which is virtually identical to the VitaMix but half the price, and it's absolutely excellent.

The Viking looks totally different but that is not to say that it isn't a decent blender in its own right. We don't have them here in the UK, so I can't pass comment upon it.

I don't know anything about the Viking, but I love my Vita Mix.

I tend to go with the more established ones, long after they've been established. LOL

I wanted a Vita Mix blender for years, then finally, when they got rid of all the green and red stuff on the label (and I told them so) I finally bought one, that was about 10 years ago, I love my Vita Mix, I use it everyday, and it works beautifully.

I did have a seal leak, they replaced the seal and the blade mechanixm for free, over nighted them to me.

and then the container after 9 years of daily use, got a stress crack, becuase I do so much ice in it, and they replaced it for 23 dollars, which included the special device to remove the blades and shipping, because it was out of warranty, so all in all, I think that is pretty good.
I used an oster before that, and couldn't believe the difference. in the Vita Mix, I can make sour cream and mousse that is so smooth, it's like dairy, and it's just nuts -- and not even soaked nuts to boot.

    I love my Vita Mix.
