Default Barrett's Esophagus and Peripheral Neuropathy

    Hi all,
As you can tell by the title I would like to discuss Barrett's Esophagus (a condition caused from chronic GERD since childhood) and Peripheral Neuropathy (mine is due to not absorbing B12--which is probably because of my stomach/GERD issue). I am currently taking prescription drugs for the GERD and a high dose of B12.

*I'm wondering if anyone who does have or used to have GERD were affected by eating a large quantity of juicy fruits.

In my introduction I posted a bit about how I am returning to this woe because as I am quickly approaching 30 I have had some real convictions concerning my health and lifestyle. I mean I have two diseases that normally even SAD people don't get until old age. I can't continue living this way. I want to love myself into health. I am loving myself into health.

    Hameyjane,

Hi, I think I have some neurological damage from lac of nutrition, especially B-12. My RVD gave me something called Ceralin which is for brain performance and brain tissue protection. I started taking it 4 days ago and it is repairing my brain. I can feel it repairing little spots all over my brain. It is also fixing things all over my body. It feels great. I got rid of a huge knot in my back that was connected to my spinal cord and my pinched nerves in my neck that I have had for years. He also recommended that I take Absorbable Methylcobalamin B-12 spray because it is absorbed directly without going through your system first. He also wants me to take Neuromin (DHA from Algea), Glycogenic B-Complex (Metagenics brand), and Cenitol (from Lecithin).

I hope you get better. I feel much much better and also no longer have depression or tension. I really need to help my memory the most though.

    k :)

Thank you both for your responses I will definitely be looking into the Ceralin. I'm still wondering if anyone who has GERD was greatly affected by large quantities of juicy/citrus fruits or if as their body healed they were able to tolerate more acid?

have you been checked for celiac disease? the combination of b-12 malabsorption (either because of pernicious anemia, or because of pure malabsorption) and gerd/b.e. could be related to celiac.

I do not have GERD but know several people who do. All of them got it before "old age". In fact, one is a baby. One is a teen. All of them have different foods that are particularly bad for them. Two of them can not eat onions or peppers. None of them eat much fruit. One can eat apples, but little else.

As for the neuropathy, this is common in diabetics. In fact it is often the first clue for people with type 2 diabetes. It was in my case.

I'm afraid I can't really answer your question, but don't think that only old people get thise problems.

I struggled with GERD for 4 months before curing it. I was on high raw for 3 months but it wasn't until I went to complete 100% raw for a month that I was healed. I ate lots of fresh juicy fruits and lots of vegetables as well as nuts, raisins and some seeds. I actually began to wonder if I could ever eat a meal and not suffer. Also the medicine they had given me for the GERD was giving me terrible side effects so I stopped taking it right before I went to the high raw months.

I found the raw foods lifestyle when I was searching for a natural cure for GERD.

    Best wishes to you.
