Possible thyroid cancer...
I'm not looking to whine or extract pity. My wife my have thyroid cancer or some type of growth in her throat area. She had a physical a month ago (nothing there) and then went in to see her "lady" doctor (last week) who noticed the lump on her throat. I made her go into the doc because it was "probably nothing". She goes in next week for a nuclear medicine scan and other tests.
What I am after is information that people might have from their own experiences about thyroid cancer and what she might be looking at down the road. I have visited a few cancer sites that make it sound like a walk in the park.
I want to start her juicing and eating as raw as possible in the coming months, regardless of what the outcome of the testing is. She feels good, no loss of energy, has no pain, etc.
What's "odd" is she has always been the "healthy one".
Anyway, thank you ahead of time for any information that you might provide.
Jon

Over40,
Hi. I don not hav the exact same type of thing, but my raw vegan doctor just perscribed my something called Ceralin (a nutritional suppliment made by Metagenics) because I had some neurological damage, depression and learning problems. I started to take it three days ago and the first day it started to repair primarily my brain. I could feel it working of different parts of my brain most of the day. The second day, it started to work on my brain, but it would at the same time fix problems all over my body. Like it felt like it was trying to repair a dead bone in my foot and then what I had thought was pinched nerves (but was probably vrve degeneration) a 10 year old knot that was in my back and connected to my spinal cord and other things. It also started to repair my thyroid glands, especially my left one. I have a metabolims problem so this might help it.
It is really good stuff. I would recommend it for anyone, even just to tune yourself up. It has stuff in it especially for brain health and also antioxidants.

Karen, is there a good website to read about this supplement?
Also.. the knot in your back sounds like something I have. And recently Melissa sent me a book on Adrenal Fatigue and frankly, a lot of your symptoms are flat out in this book! Including the sore place on your spine, which I also have. Have you ever looked into Adrenal Fatigue? Just curious.
Do you crave salt?

Rowan,
That may be a possibility. There is something I am taking right now that is supposed to help the adrenal glands. This Ceralin makes all sorts of thing happen to my bocy. It feels like these spots are being repaired. One of the spots that felt like it was being repaired is in the adrenal area. Also the ovaries, around my crevix, even around my liver. In all I would say in three days I have felt about 45-50 or so sore spots in my brain, and about 100-125 places around my body that were affected. My neck area especially feels much better. I used to always have what felt like pinched nerves and tense neck and shoulders. My neck almost better already. I can also write neater and type faster.
Just google "Ceralin"

A couple years ago my mom started to feel really awful in cycles. She found a lump right on her thyroid too. She got super depressed about once a year, would lose 30 lbs, would not eat...it was awful. We were so worried about her. And then, in a month, it would pass. All the weight would come back plus more. It turned out that her thyroid was dying and it's just a slow and miserable process. The lump was nothing at all. In fact, it went away after the worst of the episodes. This went on for maybe three years, and has since quit.
For her it dramatically affected everything. Her relationships, her family, and she even shut down our health food deli. Some things really had needed to change, though.
If I were going through it I would have done everything to stop it. But it's different for every person.
I hope your wife gets better.

Hi Jon,
Here is a link to another thread on this board where someone shared their thyroid cancer story:

Helen of Tennessee,
Thank you for posting the link. I hope this is helpful to everyone a cancer issue. As a survivor of breast cancer 8 years out, I now go to Naturpathic MD's instead of Allopathic physicians. Yes, hearing a Dr. say "CANCER" is very scary, but I have learned that surgery and chemo are really not the only answers, just some of the choices. Wish I had trusted myself more to not have accepted the chemo as my answer, but I was not open to accepting raw as a mode to allow my body to be maximally healthy and to heal the problem. Everyone must make their own choice, but for me raw is the healing path. Other herbs, etc. with a naturpathic physician will ALWAYS be my first choice for the rest of my life.
I have also been blessed to have met many individuals who have followed the raw path and continue to slowly heal--despite very negative prognosis.

Jon,
Thyroid cancer is one of the best cancers to have (if there is a "best" type of cancer!). Three people in my family have had it. My older sister, her daughter and my brother. It is very, very slow moving and has a very, very high cure rate. Of course, they all had to have their thyroids removed and have to take medication for the rest of their lives - but they are cancer free now. I wish your wife a speedy recovery!

Dudes,
I had a ball cancer scare this year.
The doctor knows best.
Be honest and open with your doctor.
Get more than one opinion.
Peace,
M.B.

I am a thyroid cancer survivor. I wish I had known about raw foods back then. I would have tried that approach first. If she does have it removed, the doctors will probably give her a special diet. I'd stick with high raw over it. Go to thyca.com for tons of info. Also, Mary Shomon's books. Google her for them.
Take care.

I don't know anything about cancer of the thyroid, I just wanted to say, I'm sorry that this is happening, and I wish healing and love for your wife.
