baby names!!
I have two different names picked out for if I have a girl (I have a hunch that it is). Please tell me which you like better:
Elizabeth Jean (Ellie) Blades
or Salome (pronounced Saul-oh-may) Jean Blades
And what's a good short name for Salome??
-
If you name her Salome, she will be called Sal by everyone, and they will pronounce it Salami, for sure, Kids are horrible, please do not name your beautiful daughter a name that kids will make fun of.
Elizabeth is nice, Ellie, Liz, Lizzy Beth, Betty, Bette, all of these are acceptable and beautiful names for a girl.
just my thoughts, I could be wrong, but I do know how kids work.

I love Salome. Kids will be cruel if they decide to be no matter what. If it's nother name it will be something else-if they choose to go there. You could always call her Mae for short!

I agree about Mae, that's beautiful :)

I danced in Japan in 1983, as Salome every one called me Salami San, and it wasn't too pleasant and these were adults,
however, Salome prounced correctly, the way you have it, is indeed beautiful, I would just pick a name that isn't quite so easy to mock, but that is just me.

I like Salome too...very pretty :)

Hi--
I love Solome. Although I agree kids can be cruel with names. Yet, how about the nickname Mimi
-
I like Salome-you could call her Sally BUT I REALLY like Mae (since my dd's name is Adaline Mae-we call her Addie Mae)

I love the name Elizabeth (Ellie). My newest Grandaughter is Elizabeth. My twin sisiter is nickname Ellie, also like.
Salmone is pretty but ripe for odd nicknames.

current bodyfat is
18-19% in the AM
15-16% in the PM,
goal is to see this go down 3% (as they are not as accurate as they are consistant ! )

Salome is really beautiful!
But I agree with the others, it's a name that older people will appreciate more than younger ones.
Weigh up the pros and cons... When she's young, she'll get called funny names, but when she hits 16-18+ everyone will be telling her what a gorgeous name it is :)

I LOVE Elizanbeth. It was the girls name I picked for our last child but we had a boy!
-
I love the name Elizabeth. Sounds so elegant and formal :) Nick names could be fun though this that! Lizzy, Izzy, Beth, ect.

Hands down, Salome. I think that's a beautiful, unique name (I actually just learned recently while watching the Discovery channel on a documentary about the "Real Life of Jesus" or something that one of his sisters' names was Salome. I'm not religious, but found that interesting, and I immediately liked the name.)
I'm a HUGE proponent of unique names. While some of the comments here have said "why would you want to subject her to teasing..."
Well, speaking from experience. I am in love with name (after 23 years)--Mercedes. Yes, you BET is was a hard name to grow up with, but now I feel blessed and unique, and really own my name. My younger sister is Helena--another beautiful name. Sure I have tons of nicknames--most people who know me well call me Merce, but Mercedes is how I am professionally, academically, etc. My sister and I were both named for our grandmothers, Mercedes and Helen.
So, I can't say enough about giving your child a beautiful name they will grow up to cherish. Certainly not to knock more common names--in fact, Mercedes is much more common in Spanish-speaking countries.

Well, I think Salome wins. I do love the name Elizabeth, but I too fell in love with the name Salome after watching part of that documentary. I am "religious" and I found it to be wonderful that since I've been praying for another peaceful baby that the name Salome means "peaceful." In the Bible she is the wife of Zebedee and the mother of the Sons of Thunder. One of her sons is James, which happens to be the name of my firstborn (but we just call him Jimmy). Does anyone know what Elizabeth means?

Another vote for Elizabeth
