    Question Albuquerque, New Mexico

Does anyone know of anything raw in Albuquerque? I am moving there in 2 weeks from California and I feel I am about to be alone in my raw world. I have been looking on the internet but I haven't found a thing.

I'm currently living in Albuquerque. I was doing about 50% raw for the past couple of weeks, but have stopped now due to expense issues (hard to afford organic produce, cookbooks, dehydrator, etc.)

Anywho, I don't know of any raw restaurants or groups here, but there are plenty of places to get raw groceries. There are also many vegan restaurants in town, many of which I'm sure have some raw dishes (or dishes that could be adapted to be truly raw).

    Hi,
Great to know there are other's of us attempting raw in the Albuquerque area.
I live in the east mountains. We moved here a year ago and was shocked at the price of produce and availablity. It is expensive compared to were I used to live. But I have found that a few places I go and find better deals. I go to Costco and Sam's club. Sams is starting to have more organic produce at better prices. Costco has some great organic greens. They also are providing more organic produce at a better price. There is a big asian market were I buy finger bananas and other more exotic produce. WE have Sunflower Market, Whole Foods, Wild Oats, and Trader Joes as well. You just have to keep your eyes open for sales. That is what I do. I was really disappointed in the Farmer Markets here. Where I lived before we could get boxes of produce at great prices. Here the Farmer Markets charge a lot more for a lot less. Most likely due to the drought.

There is a place in Sante Fe that serves raw food dishes, but they also serve vegetarian. Here is a links to a review about it..http://www.freenewmexican.com/sfguide/9666.html
I have never eaten at the Whole Body Cafe, but want to someday. I believe Santa Fe has more of a Raw populations than Albuquerque. I have heard there is a raw support group for the area. But have never found it. The link to thier web site doen't work.
Here is a list of resteraunts from Happy Cow. None specialize in Raw Vegan. I eat Salads when I go out..and bring my own dressing.

I did hear they had a Trader's and I am trilled. I love that store!!! I hope the produce isn't too expensive but I tell you the cost of living out there is about 30% less than in California and the air is clean!!

Are you moving here this weekend or are you already here? If you don't mind me asking, what led you to move to Albuquerque?

Well that's neat. I hope you like it here -- I've lived her for about a year, but I'm not terribly fond of how dry it is. I'll be here at least until November/December, though. I haven't fully committed to going raw, but I'd be open to going to some kind of raw get-together if you and other people in the area are interested.

I would love to live in New Mexico and was recently wondering how raw friendly it is. This gives me a little idea.

I think Santa Fe may be more "raw-friendly" than Albuquerque is, but I don't know for sure.
