Sorry if this is such a dumb question. I want to put a cotton towel on top of my stainless steel shelf when I dehydrate seeds that would otherwise go through the hole in the shelf. But I just want to make sure that it is safe to do so. Thanks so much!

Yes, it is safe for the deyhdrator and the towel,
I put sox, and things in my dehydrator all the time
I even stuck my Vita Mix container in there when I needed it totally dry to grind flax seed into meal.
my dehydrator gets a workout for sure.
just keep it away from the heating element in the back.
