Default How do YOU mentally prepare for a fast?

The hardest part is getting my MIND in check for a fast. I don't slip into fasting, or even 100% raw easily. I have to feel "up for the challenge" and have a game plan before I can start.

What about YOU? How do YOU get your body/mind/spirit ready for fasting? When you get emotionally/spiritually weak-how do you ensure that you stay on track? This is where I just CAVE and ruin my fast (and even 100% raw).

I want to do it, but I feel tired and worn out from other crud that's going on in my life and I just can't seem to get my MIND to a place where I feel ready and confident to start.

    How do YOU do it???

Myself, I usualy meditate and wait for the "sign" there have been times that I intellectually wanted to do it but it never happens or at least lasted in the past. :)

    Cool

Make a plan: set up what your going to eat or juice or drink how many days your going to do it. If it's your first time just try it for a day. Then 3 days and see how you like it. I did my first one for 5 days and I did it with water and grapefruit. But I messed up and did not allow my self enough recovery time and i got sick trying to reintroduce food too soon. Or you can try to do it by losing a bet!!!!
I lost a bet and fasted with misslinda for 5 days then i continued for another 12 days. But I planned for it had my support group here on the RFT. It went really well

    "Hit me some Path!"

Did I interpret question wrong.....if so,

Path offered excellent ideas. Planning is always a good way to sketch out how you want to approach your fasting.

I write a list of items needed

I like to make sure the nutrients I want are planned well so I don't end up having too much sugar.

Load up the car with jugs of water

    Deciding what eliminator to use

Review fasting sites of information to refine plan and remind myself of detox symptoms

Have neccessary other healing modalitites to ease detox

I make cheezy signs in my room "Yogi in Fasting mode" then my love letter says.....

"I can release all food cravings"

    " I will heal"

    "Healing for Chris"

"I will embrace the detox symptoms"

    etc............

    You know misslinda,
My plan set up was by no means successful with out your guidance as I several times screwed up by combining the wrongs foods to juice or trying to work out when i was very weak or addinf flax seed oil one day not thinking that it would be considered digesting. But with your help it was successful and my recovery wa successful as well
I thought that my plan was very detailed, by i learned some more things from you while going through it.

    Purl,

The first few days are the hardest as you are used to eating and it is hard at first to not eat when it is what you are so used to doing. Once you get going on the fast it is easier because you have become used to not eating. Does that make any sense? Anyways how I got through the first few days, really the first week, was by having people pray for me. I have a prayer partner at our church and I told her that I was starting a fast, that I wanted to go for 30 days (today is day 13) and asked her to please pray for me. It really helped me a lot. I know that she prayed for me, and it also helped me to be accountable because I knew that when I saw her at church she would ask me how I was doing with my fast.
    Good luck with your fast!
