Default Olives from Nature's First Law (rawfood.com)

Has anyone purchased raw olives from there? If so, which ones and were they good?

    Nope, sorry, I haven't

I asked at the deli in town to order some in, and they did, they come in big barrels straight from Italy.

They told me they are very glad that I asked them to order them, becaue they have alot of people now who love them and buy them all the time, see what I started?

so, I would at least ask your local store or deli.

Wow RP that's great! I'll do that. We have a local co-op that is looking into getting some in so hopefully they will.

The ones you requested, are they are a certain kind?? I am confused about "raw" olives. Obviously, not the ones in a can! But, what about olives from an olive bar? I don't think they are considered raw either because they are cured.

"Cured" usually means fermented or brined, not cooked. As long as food hasn't been been heated over 118 defrees F it is generally considered to be raw (GCR). Olives in a can or bottle have to be cooked (pasteurized) to prevent botulism poisoning (NotRaw) UNLESS they are kept refrigerated the whole time (GCR). Olives in salt brine in a barrel are living food and GCR. "Oil cured" is a little tricky, because some are cooked (NotRaw), while some are packed in oil AND salt (GCR), although oil cured are a small fraction of what is generally offered at any deli counter. Best to ask in the case of oil cured.
