Some movies I like that have strong spiritual undertones:
Whale Rider
The Piano
The Truman Show
"Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages." Thomas A. Edison

Hi all- I just wanted to pass this along because it looks like it will be pretty cool. I have both of these books and it is very interesting- The Indigo Children and The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children. Basicly it is a movie about these children that have a special gift- this is from the site:
"We are all the Children of Light, and we offer ourselves to the greater service of humanity, knowing that Peace Prevails on Earth through each one of us. We thank the spiritual masters that we know as our children for having the courage to come to the planet at this time to offer their gifts, knowing that we are one with them. As we focus on this oneness, the Light increases and we initiate a world of compassion and peace. Together with the children we SEE the world as healed, and we allow this vision to take root all around us. Bless the children who have come to lead us into the new world."
On January 29th & 30th, AMC theaters, and churches around the country will be having a special premier for this movie- If you are interested in seeing it, go to the site below and click on Churches to find a local one showing the film. The AMC's are almost all sold out already-

If you haven't seen 'What Dreams May Come', check it out. You have to pay attention to what he is saying and to the background. I really loved it. I have heard it is hard to understand, but you have to listen. Even my husband and my stepdaughter loved the movie, and they usually only like movies like Meet the Fockers and White Chicks.

"Pee-Wee's Big Adventure"
A very touching story about the multi-faceted and complex relationship of a child-like man and his bicycle. It may take a few viewings to understand the breadth of emotions explored in this film. Bring your tissues.

Lol, Autumn. I've always LOVED Pee Wee's Big Adventure!!

Aha - I'm not the only one who loves Pee-wee's Big Adventure AND gets that it's a spiritual movie! Thanks Autumn.
I also absolutely love "What Dream's May Come". When I saw it in the theatre ( a very long time ago, now!), the people I saw it with just didn't get why I kept crying, but I was really moved by it.
My absolute favorite movie of all time is "It's a Wonderful Life". The old Jimmy Stewart Christmas favorite. . .but it moves me every time.
And while some may not think that "What the Bleep do you Know?" is a spritual movie, it certainly opened up my mind to looking at spirituality in even more ways. . .
Great topic - that's for starting it!

Well, since Pee-Wee has already been voted for, I'll have to add "The Adventures of Pricilla, Queen of the Desert". If you've not seen this hilarious flick about Aussie drag queens and like cheesy 70s disco music like I do, this is a MUST-rent. And it does have spiritual themes to me...not necessarily about the hereafter, but about the here-now, self-respect and the meaning of love. Hmmm...may have to pull it off the shelf for another viewing.
"Pay It Forward"
"Longtime Companion"
"Jesus Christ, Superstar" (the 70s film) (didn't care for "The Passion")
"Schindler's List"
I'll have to check back here for some picks for this weekend's movie night. :)

I Heart Huckabees. Basically about "existential investigators" and the meaning of life. Wonderful, funny, touching movie! Oh, Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai. Not what you'd think by the title, but a good movie about survival and urban spirituality.

the story of the weeping camel
o man, i just watched a film recently called "The Story of the Weeping Camel". It's actually a documentary of Mongolian nomadic life, but told like a story. This film will touch you like no other, don't know when it'll be released on DVD but book it now!!!
