    Ask, ask, ask, ask!!!! =)

My partner is a PhD student. The university was having a nice dinner for the department. Matt was all set not to go. But another student mentioned to the secretary coordinating the dinner that Matt is raw. The secretary contacted him to ask about his diet. He told her that he just eats raw fruits and vegetables (no dressing, since he is allergic to dairy and didn't want them to mess it up). She said she'd work with the caterer.

Well, Matt got an awesome raw meal at the dinner. For the first course, they brought him a salad that looked way better than everyone else's - his was mixed baby greens, with chunks of mango on it. Instead of dressing, there was a ring around the plate of very finely grated pear tossed with lemon juice. For his entree, they brought him a vegetable plate: a red bell pepper stuffed with grated carrot and parsnip, garnished with thin slices of zucchinni and other veggies arranged beautifully. For dessert, he got a plate of nicely sliced tropical fruit and berries. He was so pleased! The chef even brought it out to him, asking everything was ok, etc.

When he asked who the caterer was, it turned out to be a local French restaurant. Anyway, I was floored when I heard all this. Isn't it amazing? Just goes to show, you never know! So, ask ahead of time! =)

    Hi Everyone,

This place sounds a bit goofy.

Maybe run by the local meat packers association.

    Peace,

    M.B.

Listen to Revvell and Bethany. They've successful experiences. I remember at least twice that Revvell called ahead and actually talked to the chefs, if memory serves, and they were actually delighted to be allowed free reign of their creativity. I think it's all in your attitude and expectations (both positive and light, of course).

Be sure to report back. Your experience could help others.

p.s. I do echo what others have said, too, though, that I can't imagine that this is truly the best in town if they truly don't have any vegetables or aren't willing to meet a guest's needs.
