Master Cleanse okay if you DON'T want to lose weight?
I'm not asking this for myself, but for my boyfriend. I've been tossing the idea around of doing the master cleanse for a couple weeks and was talking about it to my boyfriend during workout tonight. He said he was interested. So, I got home and have been searching the old posts. It seems like a lot of people lose 15 pounds or so. I could lose 10-15 probably but my boyfriend is really solid due to weights, but if he didn't work out he would be too thin. He said he's always had a hard time keeping weight on. (I hate those kinds of people :) )
Is it a good thing for him to do the cleanse? OR will he lose too much weight/muscle? I don't want him to lose muscle.
All I can tell you is that the master cleanse is for mainly I feel releasing old stuff from your colon, etc.. Weight loss is a benefit of it!
Can't really answer your question about your boyfriend, other than, a cleanse is always good for everyone.
Yeah, we wanted to do it for the cleansing aspect, but when I went to the Master Cleanse website and read things here on the board, a lot of people lost weight. And, he doesn't want to lose any.
in brief, most of what i lost was pure fat!

Interestingly, the fact that he has a hard time putting weight on, a cleanse may help rid the underlying problem.....maybe he is loaded with sulfites or an unhelathy gut.........he may benefit from investigating the benefits and if he doesn't think that cleansing the junk out of his sytem is worth it then can't change his mind ;)
btw, he won't turn into a famine victim overnight You'll be suprised that there is typically 5 lbs of fecal matter locked in the colon

Thanks for this post - I am also worried about losing too much weight from fasting. I have never fasted before, but don't want to lose more than water or weight that I can gain back easily. I am planning to do the MC for 10 days starting next sunday
Thanks MissLinda for the info. I'll pass it on to my boyfriend. However, when I told him what I read in "The Master Cleanser" book (below), he decided to do it. However, he has to go out of town next weekend and doesn't think he can stick to it, seeing family and all. Will it benefit him to do it 5 days or should he wait until he can do it the full 10 days?
I've already read almost half of the book and it mentioned one place where a guy only lost 4 lbs. on a 12 day cleanse. And the author says "For those who are overweight, less maple syrup may be taken. For those underweight, more maple syrup may be taken. For those who are underweight and worried about losing weight, REMEMBER, the only things you can possibly lose are mucus, waste, and disease. Healthy tissue will not be eliminated. Many people who need to gain weight actually do so near the end of the diet period".
So, I'm going to do it starting Monday. Personally, I'm hoping to lose some weight and NOT gain it back after the cleanse.
Oh, and the main reason to do the cleanse for me is to clean the stuff out. But, when I was reading about it I saw the weight loss thing. That's fine with me, but it was a concern of my boyfriend's.
