Questions
After reading the post "Without the Pill, what do you use for birth control?"
I was thinking of a few questions...
Raw will stop cycles but wonÂ’t stop ovulation, right?
You can become pregnant, healthily while having no cycles, right?
Could you chart to see when you ovulate while on the raw diet?
-
Other primates concieve and give birth without having periods but I would expect that they do have cycles and ovulate. We should be the same.

we are not primates though.

A primate (L. prima, first) is any member of the biological order Primates, the group that contains all the species commonly related to the lemurs, monkeys, and apes, with the latter category including humans. The English singular primate is a back-formation from the Latin name Primates, which itself was the plural of the Latin primas ("one of the first, excellent, noble"). Discounting human habitation, primates occur mostly in Central and South America, Africa, and southern Asia.
Looks like we qualify

I am not related to lemurs, monkeys, and apes. But this is off topic, so I will drop it. I am just looking for answers to the questions I asked.

From what I've read, even though you may not bleed due to a raw vegan diet, you are apparently as fertile as you ever would have been if not more so.

Thanks Karen
Think charting would work while on a raw diet?
-
yes, I would thnk we are MORE fertile!!!, as we were designed to eat food in it's natural state AND reproduce!! -by whom or whatever ;)
-
Tanya, are you breastfeeding still?, how old is your baby if so?--nursing has been a VERY effective bc method for me-for about 15 months on average.

Periods
It is possible to not have period, but still ovulate. It's also possible to not have a period and not ovulate. You'd have to look at your specific situation to know. It's not a generic answer. I think most people on raw still have periods though, just lighter with less cramping. You'd have to take a poll to see what % here though!
Likely temperature and cervical mucous charting would show if you're ovulating or not. There's a temperature change, and a mucous change as well that signal fertile periods. Lots of good books on this available.

If you read my first answer you will find that answering your question was what I was attempting to do. The idea that in 2006 I would be entering a debate on evolution did not dawn on me and is not what I feel like doing this evening.

Don't worry sport.. our differences make the world go round right?
I digress........but it is still hard to believe that people are still attempting to debunk evolution.

If you want to chart, I suggest getting some books on it. You can also purchase a basal thermometer and ovulation tests (focusing on mucous) to see if you are ovulating.

You could get a fertility microscope for around 30$(to test saliva) and that together with mucus changes should work pretty well to see, when you are fertile(and don't forget that sperm can wait inside of woman's body 3-7 days for the egg to ripen.)
