    Default fasting during a cold

I have a question... I feel like I am starting to come down with a small cold and was wondering is it better to fast after thats out of my system, or is it okay during? Does it make a difference?

there was a great scientist/nutritionist n.w. walker whom lived to be 118 that said you get colds because of built up toxic waste from an improper diet , the waste becomes food for the germs to live off of . and that the best thing to do upon getting a virus is to fast on liquids in order to hasten the flushing out of these wastes . goodday :)

I was just about to post a very similar question.

I'm on a 21 day cleanse, came down with a cold last week, and when it got better, I moved on to the master cleanse. Now, on day two of the master cleanse the cold is back in full force. I'm taking ginger and echinacea (liquid form, tinctures) and added a bit more cayenne to the drinks.

Anyway ideas on how to drain this sinus congestion out of my system?? Thanks so much.

    And good luck fluwrchld.

According to everything I've read, and my own experience, when you have a cold that's the best time to fast. Basically a cold is just your body detoxing, so help it work its way through by not using your energy digesting food, use that energy instead to get rid of the toxins (the cold).

Here's a recent thread on sinus/cold problems, with several home remedy suggestions:

I have a cold as well at the moment. My first in many years. I am very dissapointed. I feel as if my body has let me down. I was always proud of the fact that I never got sick and used the fact to try to influence others in to eating a healthier diet so now I am having to eat a little humble pie. Does anyone know if humble pie is raw vegan.

Mary, I know you've been raw for a long time, but I'm thinking that it's still toxins coming on out -- just really residual!!

I believe that fasting is the answer -- water and/or juice.

And yes, I think that, in your case, the humble pie is definitely raw vegan.

I would think like that as well but Hubby has the same bug which makes me wonder. Last time he got one I think that he was hoping I got it as well just to show me that I am not the great health guru that I make myself out to be but I dissapointed him. This time I dissapointed me. To make matters worse I am getting a cold sore to go with it.
I am not bitching. I am more than lucky with my health and have no cause to bitch or feel sorry for myself. We are a little competitive and I prefer to win.
