Food Processor- which one do you use?
Hi Guys-
I am just embarking on my raw journey and was looking to buy a food processor. I've never been much of a chef...but I am so inspired by all the fabulous recipes flying around here...So I am making the big jump and going out to buy a food processor to assist in my mission. So which kind do you use?
Cheers! :)

cuisinart 7 cup--by far my best raw food appliance

I use a cheap wal mart brand and it works great. I have had it for 2 years and it is still going strong... Now the dehydrator and juicer, those 2 appliances I chose expensive ones and am glad, but I find my inexpensive food processor to be just fine.

I use an old hamilton beach one still works fine so far.

I love my Cuisinart 11 cup,
and I hear the Black and Decker for about $40 sold at Walmart and Kmart is excellent, recommended by Alissa and many on this board.

Thanks Guys!!
Great to hear from you..will check out walmart for the black and decker!!
You guys rock!!

Hamilton Beach!!!! $29.99!!!
Nope - it's not the Black and Decker -- it's the Hamilton Beach for $29.99 at Target. That's what Alissa uses and recommends. (Not the Black & Decker $40 one.)

I use a 14 year old Cuisinart which is a workhorse and, I understand, assembled totally different (and better) than the current ones.
See Shivananda's comments in the "Cheeep appliances" thread (I don't know how to insert thread addresses here, sorry!). He has done a fabulous job of comparing many of these appliances and explaining what to look for.
Good luck....by the way, I think the one Alissa uses in her video looks very easy to use!

I have an 11-cup Cuisinart that I have had for at least 10 years now, but purchased the 14-cup last year. The 11-cup seemed too many for many recipes. But I have an unually large family and felt like I could really use it - and I do - several times a week. I have heard the $40 Black and Decker is a good one too.
Another purchase you might consider is a small mini-processor. I have an old Oscar that I've had literally since college and I use it almost daily. It minces, purees, and does a load of work for me - especially when I need to do something small like herbs or guacamole. The thread mentioned above is a really helpful one for buying appliances - do check it out.
Best Wishes!

Thanks, you're welcome, and here it is: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11944
As a bottom line summary, for the link- challenged, if you only have $50 or so to spend I'd get a Black & Decker 450 watt or better at Target or Walmart, but if you have $150 or so to spend (online, @ discountjuicers.com and others), the KitchenAid 12 cup is a hands down winner.
And my reasons for not recommending Cuisinart at all are detailed elsewhere. No upset intended if you have already one, just not something I would never let a good friend buy.:)

Okay... I think I've narrowed down my search I found a used one...Cuisinart super pro DLC-7....but I have heard some bad things about cuisinart-so I don't know..or I was going to go with the Hamilton Beach (the one from Target)...RAWTRUTH do you have model 70560?
Thanks again guys..I can't wait to make the date nut torte!!
Cheers!
