    Default Green powder

I just didn't know where to put this so I thought here would be the best place.

Normally I try to stay away from most supplementation unless I feel it's something my body could benefit from and this is one of them, since I'm not faithful in the eating greens department.

Hubby and I watched the Dr. Day video "You can't improve on God" and she highly recommends adding Barley Green to juices & smoothies. I found out (I kinda knew this in the back of my mind) that it's a multi-level marketed product and the cost is very high. So I ordered another kind of green powder from Garden Of Life called Perfect Food, a little more affordable than the Barley Green.

Has anyone used this product and have any commentary on it? The website for this company is www.gardenoflife.com

    Sharon,

I'm sure you heard this before......if you can get "whole foods" w/o supplements, that would be the most beneficial.. However, I am a big fan of Dr. Mercola (WWW.mercola.com) and he hand selects products--Garden of life being one of them so in that sense, I would have more trust than not (but that's just me)in the benefit of this product. I've always wanted to try the products as them seem of high quality and standards. Sorry I couldn't give you a personal testimony of his products .

    luv,
    linda

    Hi Linda,

The only reason I look to a barley powder or dried grass is because it's as close to one can get to whole food in a pinch. And something I can take on a trip with me and put in water or something if I'm not getting enough higher quality nutrients.

Aside from that, that's all I'd take, besides maybe some lecithin for my high cholesterol and B-12 sublinguals if necessary.

I agree with much of what Mercola says (aside his sales tactics!) so I will try the Garden of Life product. Apparantly lots of people, at the store I ordered it from, have placed orders in the past and the lady there said she's never heard any complaints about it. Back in California I used to buy the good 'ol Trader Joe's brand 'Green Powder' which was super-affordable. I also used Dr. Schulze's Superfood which was a bit costly, however it was all organic, wild crafted and such.

If anyone else has tried something like Barley Max or whatever, I'd be interested in knowing what you think about it.

    Default Perfect Food

I really like that product, for many reasons, even though its manufacturer is one of my company's main competion in another product. (we both do digestive care.) I take that green powder at times, and like it because: It is organic, contains soil based organisms, and is fermented so it is considered alive. It is pretty concentrated, so a little goes a long way.

I tend to take it if I am not getting greens in my diet. My favorite way to mix it is to take a frozen banana, a cup or so of berries, some water, some fiber powder (made with ground flax) and throw it in the blender. I add the greens at the last, and sometimes a bit of coconut oil. (about a tbsp to help my body deal with the banana). It is really adictive.

I think the greens make it taste "warm" if that makes sence? It makes my belly warm, and my mouth too. I can't describe the sensation any better than that. It is not heat like temp, but warmth as in satiation and just, well, warmth....

    Enjoy.

We used BarleyGreen for a while and now we use BarleyMax. It's awesome! There are tablets you can take if you are on the road, too. It is a little pricey, but we figure it's worth it. If you can get on as a wholesale dealer of MLM products just for your own consumption, you save TONS! (And you can get it for anyone else you know that might want it and make a little cash.) I know you can do this with BarleyGreen, BarleyMax, and Goji Berry juice. :)

    Hi Sharon:
I work for Renew Life Formulas. Like Garden of Life, we are also a Florida based supplement company. We specialize in selling solutions, rather than products, which is sort of different than Jordan's company. Before I came to this job I worked in a HFS and sold mountains of product for both companies. I don't advertise it at work, but most of my family still takes Primal Defense.

    Default Green Food for thought...

    Hi Sharon~
For awhile my family was using Dr. Richard Schulze's "superfood" (green food powder supplement) which we did like. Recently, we have switched to "Nature's First Food" from rawfood.com. I can honestly say...I like the taste of it better in my smoothies (almost neutral tasting, yet a deep green color) and it's more powdery . The biggest thing I like about this supplement which makes me think it really is helping is: NO more food or sugar cravings!!!

Thanks for all those suggestions. And I know what it is like supporting a company, or not supporting it for that matter, based on what you believe in and the your feeling of integrety of the people running the company.
