Thread: Banana Juice.

  1. #1

    Default Banana Juice.

I don't have juicer; but will get one soon.
I have saw lots of thread on juicing things; but have never seen or heard of anyone juicing a banana.
My question, can you juice a banana? ;)

These thoughts come to mind. . .

When you eat a apple, does juice sometimes run down your hand?

When you eat grapes, do you notice they are juicy?

When you eat citrus, does the juice slip down your chin?

Now, when you eat a banana, do any of the above happen?

Actually I've considered juicing a banana myself -- I like to sneak it in my special needs child's juice just to get the banana vitamins down him.

But have decided that it would be impossible. And yes, I have a juicer, just not brave enough to try it, knowing it would be a total mess. Besides I've had zero luck on juicing peaches and plums; even though those also produce juice running down my chin while eating. Who knows????

If I could I would. I finished reading a book that talked about the unjuicables.
These would be banana, papaya, strawberry, peach, plum, avocado, etc...
The reason is that their pulp does not easily separate from their water.

    Raw Faith,

Don't let non-juicing a banana get you down. Many have frozen the bananas prior to running them through the juicer with a blank and enjoyed great ice cream. I use many in smoothies, either green or my fake morning mocha drink.

While you can't juice banana's you can certainly drink them as a smoothie if you have a blender. Just blend them in with the juice. You can also do this with avacados, which make quite a nice creamy drink.

Out of curiosity, I ran bananas through my old centrifugal juicer (haven't attempted it in the Champion) and what you get isn't "juice" but what the manual that came with the juicer called "nectar". Something did come out though but it's not "juice/juice". You probably could do some banana and another juicier fruit with it like apple or something.

In fact, the manual for the juicer says this:

"Apricots, bananas, peaches, pears, melons and strawberries are soft-textured fruits. The juice that is extracted from these fruits is very thick and is known as nectar. It is best to alternate processing of these juices with thinner juicers, such as carrots, apples, etc. Process soft-textured fruits first, followed by firmer fruits and vegetables, in order to insure maximum removal of thick nectar."

The Champion manual never mentioned bananas for juicing, but did mention them for making smoothies, ice cream, etc. using the blank screen.

But as it was mentioned above, a blender is GREAT for bananas and making delicious smoothies and if you want the consistency thinner, add a little water and maybe a date if adding water takes some of the sweetness away.

a friend of mine could juice just about anything, but i've never seen him do a a banana...he would put things into a blender with water to create the juicer and blend like crazy then strain the pulp...it worked perfectly...i've seen him do it with just about everything...

well actually, I run bananas through my Brevell juicer all the time, but then I put a couple apples and a orange or two through it to "wash out" the thicker banana stuff. It's really quite good!
