Rebounding Question
Does anyone find rebouding hard on your head... perhaps my brain is just too soft

When I first started rebounding I went all out and over did it. I developed sore knees ankles and hurt my low back on day. I talked to my friend who turned me on to one and she said ' I told you, GO SLOW !" So I backed off to 5 min then added on from there ! I also noticed my head felt soft to, so that will go away as your body gets used to the exercise. Happy Bouncing !

What kind of rebounder are you using?

Sharon... I gave my rebounder away last year b/c it hurt my head too much. But again I am reading about the benefits, and wondering if I should not have been soo hasty. It was just a cheap one probably from Canadian Tire.

I think using a Needak or Urban Rebounder would be your best bet. I use a Needak, got a great deal from a distributor on e-bay, and I've never had any pain, anywhere. It has excellent shocks, has a great warranty and is made specifically for the rebounder's safety and well-being. I need to get another one because my husband is rebounding now.
In any case, you might want to try a soft, low bounce for the time being, until you can use a better quality one.

Thanks Sharon... I had wondered if quality made a difference!

Dumb question: why is rebounding so popular with raw foodists? Why is it so good? Thanks!
-
Some say it's the best form of exercise out there... b/c it gets your lymph system moving (which is integral to weight loss... the lymph fluid helps to get rid of toxins incl. fat). The bouncing motion makes your lymph nodes open and close especially on the rebound... hope that helps... as it's my basic understanding of why it's so good

Yes, the cleaning out of many parts of the body is a huge advantage of rebounding ! When I first started I had to have a box of tissues near by when I got off, I would be coughing up all kinds of yucky stuff, it was great !
As an Urban Rebounding certified instructor I think rebounding is so popular because there is minimal impact on the joints. So if you have had to refrain from high impact exercise in the past, urban rebounding is a great form of exercise without the impact and jarring of other forms or exercise that yield the same results. Anyone can do it, we have a seniors rebounding class and some of these people look and feel 20 years younger and are thrilled to be able to do some form of cool exercise at their age !
I wish you all lived near me, we could have a awesome raw food talk rebounding class followed by a potluck of course !!!

MFB... what a cool job. I took a look on the net for the "Urban" and "Needak" rebounders and whoa... they're not cheap-at-all. Can you tell me if there is much of a difference between say a cheap $40.00 CDN rebounder and one of the ones listed above? And if there is... what makes them better??
Thanks,
Sandra

I had an old $20 rebounder from a sporting goods store, which I compared with the Needak when it came in. What a joke!
The cheapo one felt like some mesh fabric stretched over a hoop, with hardly any bounce to it. The springs were dinky and the fabric hard.
The Needak has a wonderful bounce, you can just stand there and barely move to make it bounce, the cheap ones just can't do that.
If you have a rebounder that can't absorb the shock, you aren't going to get a decent work-out, plus you may get injured from your body absorbing its own shock instead of the rebounder doing the work for you.
It is well worth the investment if you are going to use this daily. Just like a high quality blender. You get what you pay for.

Hi,
The springs and support underneath make the difference. We started off with the $40. ones to sample our program to members before making the investment, the fabric that holds the spring in place was actually tearing right thru on several of them after about 2 weeks of active use and not being used by severly overweight people !
It was awful, one minute they are bounding away the next the spring support gives out. Granted your probably only going to use it once a day but we used it the same way you would at home. We returned them to the sporting good store and the ytold us that they are not for that type of use ?? I guess he meant in agym being used more then once a day ? But they did refund our $$.

I just did my first rebounding workout tonight. I had a hard time at first my feet kept cramping up on me. I noticed today I had a charlie horse in my calf which I have never had in my life(I usually get them in my butt cheek) anyway I had to keep stopping and finally I had to take my shoes off.after that I could finish the work out. I am drinking LOTS of water. I bought a 2.2 liter water container and I drink almost all of it everyday.
I have a bad knee and this is the first thing I have bought that had not aggravated my bad knee. I think I will be able to keep up with this. I bought the Urban rebounder.
