    Default Should I fast?

Probably sounds like a stupid question...

But as I start my transition to 100% raw I was wondering if perhaps I should just jump in head first and do a 3 day juice fast in order to sort of "kick start" things and then transition to a completely raw foods diet from there. Would that be going about it the wrong way?

I feel like perhaps I should do this because I have spent such a long time abusing my body with chemicals: caffine, alcohol, preservatives, artificial coloring, fried foods (vegies). I feel like I should just start with a clean slate and do a 3 day fast and then go completly raw. I've only started eating eating "cleaner" foods about 3 months ago and I still have a coffee and alcohol habit that I need to kick permanently. Therefore, I sort of feel like I need to "shock" my body into a healthier state.

However, I don't want to go about doing things the wrong way. Should I continue with a slow easy transition or just jump in head first? Would I be doing more harm than good if I tried that?

Has anyone here just jumped in head first and started fasting in order to cleanse their body and start heading in the right nutritional direction? If so, how did that work out for you?

Haven't done the 30 day challenge yet. I don't have the money right now to get my fridge fully stocked so that I'll be able to eat properly. I'm hoping to do that once I get paid next week. I just kind of felt that I should maybe just jump right in and get started with a simple 3 day fast, just to kind of clear things out. But I don't want to go about anything the wrong way.

a 3 day fast can not be wrong because lots of people do it and benifit from it. I would be afraid that you (and me) would be so hungry during the fast that we would weaken and spoile the entire plan.
The ultimate goal is to be 100% raw for ever, and anthing that may come in the way of that goal should be avoided. This is just my way.

I look at fasting this way.. If your body wants to fast it will tell you in no uncertain terms. Fasting for spirutality being a different subject of course. I did three weeks raw then my body said to fast.. food didn't look good, I didn't want it. I grumbled because it was inconvient, my juicer won't get here for another week. So I did a two day water fast. I feel _much_ better now. I don't know why I needed to fast, but I did, and now life is good. So if your body is saying fast, do it. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
