Default What foods help w fevers?

My 2 yr old has a fever of 101 and aside from tylenol, which i dont feel good about but have no options right now, I don't know what to give her. Any fruits/veggies that are good? She has no other signs of illness. Thx.

    Greetings Raene,

I am not sure about what food could be used but I do know that goldenseal (powder) herb and lemongrass (as a tea) works immediately for fevers. With the goldenseal dip your fingers in the powder and insert your finger in the baby's mouth. Only use goldenseal as needed for a day. It is one othe most powerful herbs and you are using it on a child. As for the tea if your child is raw just steep it in warm water for about a half an hour add agave or honey.

    I hope this helps.

    Default Fever

A fever is the body's way of fighting an invader. Unless it gets over 102, I'd let the fever work... just watch her. If it gets too high, put her in a warm tub of water and let her play while the water cools.. it will cool her too .. gently, not too quickly. Then keep her in light pjs instead of heavy ones and just keep the house comfortably warm.

I'm not a doctor.. just a mom who reared 3 boys with a minimum of doctors and drugs so do as you will.

sorry your baby is not feeling well. when I worked in the hospital, the dr.'s order would be to give meds only if the temp goes over 101. I agree with RowanC, let the body do what it needs to do. :)

Another great thing for fevers is yarrow tea. It actually helps you sweat and cools your body down naturally.

I have also had success with carrot juice. Sounds weird I know but it worked for me.

A mom told me that beet juice helped her son, to let go of fever. I also read that beet is blood cleansing, among other things. I don't know much about it, since I haven't used it myself during a fever.
