Talking Hello - raw day 8 and loving it!

Hi all, I'm new here to Alissa's board - I really like the look of this board! I've known about the rawfoodsupport board and the rawandjuicy board for awhile and am so glad I've found another board to 'check out'. Especially now that I have so much more time on my hands by not needing to sleep as much (thanks to raw). I must say I'm at a loss as to how to use up all of it ! Ahhhhh, the freedom of raw! Gotta love it. Maybe soon I'll get inspired to do some of my 'projects' that I've been putting off for who knows how long (wallpapering, cleaning out closets, good-willing stuff and finishing up some of the 7 or 8 odd books I'm currently reading, etc.)

    Just wanted to say hi...

Hi Del and Welcome. I am curious about what you have been eating for the past 8 days.

    Thanks!

    Smileen,

Well, lots of blueberries and strawberries for sure!! As well as salads with Alissa's Honey Mustard Dressing and I also made a 1/2 batch of her raveoli's and have been snacking off those babies for a few days. Larabars, mushrooms and onions soaked in olive oil and nama shoyu, oj and smoothies - oh and my new fav, tomatoes and onions with basil and olive oil and apple cider vinegar - yum o la! Handfuls of nuts here and there and dehydrated summer squash 'chips' with nama shoyu and celtic sea salt on them.

I pretty much eat when I want and what I want (raw of course) and I've lost 6.5 pounds so far (sooo much water retention!).

Welcome. I checked out your personal profile. We're about the same age and I'm also a stay at home with 9 month old twins. How's your family handling the raw thing? My husband is supportive as long as he doesn't eat it. My twins eat what my husband eats (which is always whole food though not raw). I took a little break from all raw but am slowly heading back to it. I miss the energy it gave me and am trying not to think of the foods I'm giving up...but how good I feel.

Hope to talk more but my daughter is grabbing some paper to eat right now...

    Hi Debbie,
9 month old twins!! You sure do need some energy! ;) ! My son is 16 months and sometimes I wonder if he has an invisble twin that helps him make messes! !

Hubby is very supportive of me being raw. He told me the other night that when I eat good he eats better. He's a typical SAD eater but is eating more salads and I have him try most all the recipes I make. He's very open to trying new things like that.

My little man has always loved to eat berries and grapes and mushrooms and olives even when mommy was far from raw. But he will usually at least try a bite of what I have (and most times it comes right back out of his mouth) but I am going to keep trying until he prefers the taste of mommys "squash chips" over dadas Pringles!

We are doing this raw thing the same way. It feels good to know someone is in the same situation as me. I make raw meals and offer it to my husband as a side dish. If he likes it...then it's a keeper and I can make it again for him. If he says blech, then it's for me only. But he is willing to try it. As for the twins, they are eating whole foods, mostly cooked lightly. Tonight they had miso soup with tofu for their first time and loved it.

I'm back to eating raw from morning till dinner, then either a raw or a whole foods dinner, and back to raw for the rest of the evening. This works really well for me right now as I transition. I'm craving the energy that you are feeling and that I have experienced before.

Have you found recipies that your husband likes so far? My husband likes marinated veggies, loves olives, and a mushroom soup that I made one time. But mostly he likes the raw desserts that I make.

    Talk to you later.

Welcome. I'm also feeding my SAD hubby raw foods as a side dish to his regular meals. He's appreciative, and enjoys most of the recipes I've tried, but he likes them just as an appetizer, not a full meal. i'm working on him. At least he's willing to try them. I'll give him credit for that. You're post inspired me to try the Raw Ravioli recipe, and I'm loving it. I also tried marinating mushrooms and onions (which I usually cant tolerate) in olive oil and lemon juice, with sea salt. For the first time in a long long time, I was able to enjoy onions without the heartburn I usually experience following eating them. Welcome to this board, and thanks :)
