    Default fasting and skin care

I hope this isn't too silly to ask. I'm starting a juice fast tomorrow. I love using coconut oil and my organic cocoa butter all over my skin. I've been doing alot of research and reading. Since the skin is the largest organ for detoxing, should I avoid using my oil and lotion? Or am I just overanalyzing this?

    kiwi,

i'd probably just stick to your coconut oil. you can use it all over your body instead of the cocoa butter!

also, do you dry brush your skin? this is really good for getting rid of dry skin, making your whole body extra-soft, and aiding in detoxification. if you don't already, get yourself a natural bristle body brush and brush all over your body before you hope in the shower each day!

    Hey Kiwilime,

I don't know if coconutoil has the ability to draw out anything other than feeling good on the body but there are some oils that you could probably mix with to get a "drawing" of toxins effect.

It's not going to hurt to use your lotions or oil but keep in mind that as you cleanse, certain smells may start to bother you or maybe not. There's not rule that says you cannot.

On the flip side, it may be beneficial to keep the skin in natural state since the rate of detox on a juice fast is accelerated and like you said, skin is the largest detox organ.

Skin brushing and bath detox is great while fasting. Lot's of rest and breathing.

Dry brushing has nothing to do with showering and it is a boost to your lymphatic system which would aid detox and much more. It should be a lifetime habit at least once but preferably twice a day.
There are other treads here that you should look at so banana it and if you need more info let us know.

    Thumbs up this might help

I read that body brushing of your skin is very good for you. So, I went to Walmart and found a .98 cent soft bristled back brush, which the handle can be separated from the brush. I bought two. One to actually use in the shower and one for my body brushing. I have used it and it feels great.

I hope this helps you. :)
