It is hard to say. It depends on how old you are and how "dirty" your body is. Even if it requests long fast, don't forget that you can't safely jump into long fast because of lack of experience. The way fast-raw-fast is probably much more safe and comfortable way of detoxification.

On the other way, if you want fast(quick) result, try long fast but watch out for colour of your urine and don't let get it dark. A headache is a bad sign too. Both these problems can be solved by drinking more water. If drinking doesn't help, it's time to end fast, because it means that your body has problems with cleaning itself and self-poisoning can happen.

That is the question I am asking myself and would like to find out how long fast I can rid of toxin from me.

I Knew 17-year old boy (in one living food forum) who did 40-55 days of fast with only water and pure lemon juice. He got totally clean.

Also someone did 3 month and rid of the toxin.
Everybody has to find their own length of fasting according to the condition of the body. Fast-raw-fast-raw,,, might also good to do..

When we let toxin out, we must be able to handle all these toxin...

    Hi,

I don't know about the fasting but I do know that sweating helps in removing dangerous heavy metals from your system that you get from deoderants, eating fish, breathing exhaust and pollution, amalagum fillings etc.

My raw vegan doctor said to sweat as much as you can.

I dunno, I feel like we must constantly detox due to the polluted environment we live in. I have done 2 small 2-2 day juice fasts before, and I have recently (yesterday and the day before) just finished a small grapefruit juice fast. After eight months of being raw, I wasn't expecting much of a cleansing reaction; however, there was HORRIBLE stuff coming out of me. I had horrible nausea, pooping problems, and the last night I even began throwing up due to backed up bile in my liver!! I was VERY unclean, even after eating 100% for eight months! IT just shows you how toxic we become by eating cooked food!!! I know John Rose (if you would like his number PM me) is a fasting expert and has written many books on fasting. He has one done every fast, and I know the longest one he has done for 90 days! I think 30 days may be a good start for a first fast though.

As I understand, the body is always detoxifying this in an ongoing proess that does not stop.

However, if you mean "concentrating" the detox of toxins to "detox" on a [deeper] level perse, than fasting can take you there. Raw foods do too but it is slower pace but effective as well.

I have a link that outlines the different stages and disucsses howlong one would have to fast to have results on the cellular level of the brain.

I'd be cautious about fasting all toxins so soon. Take fasting a day at a time. As the body/organs need to be functioning to [handle] the detox. Kind of a catch22........taking invenotry of your health etc is a good place to start.

I'm in solid food mode and I am experiencing DEEP cleansing and repairing.

    Post Fasting Question :-)

I am very interested in fasting for optimal health / detoxification. However.. my self control, when it comes to food, is terrible. Is there anyway to "psych" oneself up or prepare for a fast?

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,
    Stephania

Stephania1186...I am with YOU...I have such a hard time steering clear of food too...even for a day...that's the longest I've ever been able to "fast!" btw We are practically neighbors! You live in Ithaca? I live near Watertown, NY...I thought I was the only raw vegan in our neck of the woods

I know I should try fasting but there are 6 others in my house...hubby and 5 kids who eat SAD....I know;sigh...I try with them but can't force them! My husband is my tough sell....but anyway, I digress....

Is it absolutely necessary to fast once in awhile? I am ok with an apple detox where you only have apples....but other than that...I AM WEAK!!! I usually eat apples only on Mondays...why not? any other suggestions?

steph and di , what i did is browsed for fasting sites then when i found ones i liked i added them to my favorite list so that when i fire up for fast i can keep going back to those sites and rereading the info which keeps me focused on my goal so i dont sway into eating . heres 2 sites i like = www.drbenkim.com + www.falconblanco.com , you have to do some searching at falconblanco to find fasting page . another good site is healing through fasting , but www.fasting.ws.com is what it says is address but i dont think that gets you there . and i dont know if this does anything for you but i have a clip boarded peice of loose leaf that ive written on in big letters this strategy = I HAVE TO SHRINK MY STOMACH ! I HAVE TO TIGHTEN MY STOMACH ! I MUST LIVE ON RAW FOOD ! I MUST WATER FAST 3 DAYS PER MONTH AT MINIMUM AS A WAY OF LIFE ! ive got that clip board hanging over my brainwashing unit (tv-lol :) ) so that i always see it to keep me focused . good day

Don't know how much this will help, but I have found a TON of good info about fasting from a site called freedomyou.com.

It talks a lot about religion, which can be a deterrant for some. What I don't like about it is that...while I do have spiritual/religious beliefs, fasting for me would be done solely for the sake of health and cleansing. So to read about doing it for spiritual reasons, for ME, it's just not very interesting or educational as that would not be my reason for fasting. If you're put off by religious content, the site is still great. They even have a list called "vegetable juice guide" and one called "fruit juice guide" which lists all the nutrients of most common fruits and vegetables. So far, it has been very educational. People post their stories of healing from different health problems such as cancer and obesity through fasting. There are a few books you can buy. There's just an absolute ton of info there.

On detoxing, one fast just won't do it. Several fasts, colon cleanses, etc are needed to completely clean yourself out and as someone else already mentioned, we breathe polluted air, etc, so we'll probably never be 100% clean. The longer fasts definitely will get more work done than the shorter ones, as the longer ones allow for deeper cleansing without being interrupted by digestion. Work up to it...be careful.
