Smile Raw Foodist perspective on excercise & the Blahs.

    Hi!

I just wanted to post my thoughts on eating raw and how I feel about excercise.

I absolutely detest excercising. Once I get going I feel good that I am doing it although I don't particulary like it while I am doing it. Once I am done I feel great!.

I have not excercised for about 6 months and went 100% raw about 8 weeks ago. I have lost 10 lbs but have been stuck at a plateau for about 6 weeks. I know that for my body, I have to excercise to lose excess weight and then I probably won't have to much to maintain my ideal weight.

Here is what I have discovered. I have become very intune with listening to my body. I have been eating less and less and don't feel the need to eat very much, probably because my body is ready to utilize my excess fat (I am about 60 lbs overweight). I am at the point where I am feeling gross, toxic and icky. Lately, I have been having the urge to go and excercise, not to lose weight, but to move excess toxins out of my body faster.

I have discovered that this reason is much more enjoyable to me than excercising to lose weight. Becuase of becoming a raw foodist and greatly aware of what I put in my body and how my body works, and how it affects the way I feel, excercise is much more enjoyable knowing that I am cleaning out my system.

I went run walking today for about 3.2 miles and feel soooo much better. I felt kind of blah and stuck with toxicity.

I hope those that do not enjoy excercise will look at it this way and maybe it will motivate you get out there and do something knowing it will clean you out even more.

Totally with you on that, girl! But be encouraged . . . I HATED exercising when I first started, but the healthier I get, the more I'm enjoying it. And I haven't been at it (raw foods or exercise) for very long.

I totally agree that, unless you're obsessed with how you look, you need to have more motivation than, "I'm doing it to lose weight."

I don't know if you know anything about Human Growth Hormone, but it's something that's really been motivating me lately (exercise enhances it a lot). I just started a thread about how to maximize it. You might want to read about it online if you're not familiar with it.

Some of us need all the exercise motivation we can get!

    I'm rootin' for you!

when I"ve gone raw in the past I felt just like this-detoxing, no energy, the last thing I wanted to do was "workout". But being raw this time, I am learning from past experiences, just like your walking experience that I feel SO much better when I do exercise. I can always tell if I'm tired because I'm detoxing because as soon as I start moving, whether walking, or yoga or lifting some weights, I feel SO much better. That's why I'm convinced that just being 100% raw really isn't enough-I think we HAVE to exercise and deep breathe daily too.

I have just started to exercise. The first few weeks I went slow with just 30 min on treadmill. I would try to run 5 min of it. That led to two sep 5 min running then 10 min at time. Some times total were up to 45min. Just slow progression. With each time, it was like making an energy deposit to pull from for the next. That was 6 weeks ago. Now I'm at 3 weeks of 6 days alternate
weights and cardio. I've thrown in an extra pilates or two and some treadmill time. I can't believe I'm finally doing this.
I attribute it to the increased raw fruits/vegs. I notice that how well I eat the day before is what gives me energy the next am.

    Karenisraw,
when you exercise, your body releases endorphins which makes you feel good after a good work out

    Karen (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

3.2 MILES? WAY TO GO........... :)

I notice that I only have to workout 1/2 even down to a 1/3 of the time to get the same results as I used to in an hour or more. i"m getting quicker results and working out less----the majic fo raw.

btw, essential oils grapefruit, cedarwood and bergamot with jojoba is great in the tissue--tightening and toning!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not head over heels in love with exercising either. But I hate feeling out of shape and not in control of my strength. If something unforseen happened i wouldn't be able to defend myself. So that is my motivation, to be in better control of my life. Judy :)
