Hi! I'm new
Hi! I am Duane (NOT DIANE - I'm a guy) I am new to raw eating, was a heavy meat eater before. I am hoping this is the real deal. I live in Colorado, am married, have two daughters, love dogs, and would love to hear from people who have lost a lot of weight are in the process of losing a lot of weight, or anyone else who would like to correspond.
Thanks

Hi, Duane, welcome! I'm in Colorado, too. What city are you in? Good luck with being raw, this board is great! :)

Hi Duane,
Welcome to Alissa's board. Although I haven't lost a lot of weight (35 pounds), there are people on this board that have lost a lot! Hopefully they'll post here and if they don't, just keep reading the different threads here and you'll run across them.
I have 2 grown children, 1 grandson, and 2 dogs that eat raw.

Hi Duane. I'm new also. Welcome. I'd also like to loose a lot of weight (approx 80-100 pounds). Good luck to you. :)

Welcome Duane, woot another guy! Hehe you will find Duane we are kind of out numbered here. :) Glad to have you with us. I have lost some weight, never found out how much yet, will be starting Alissa's 30 day challenge on Saturday so will start weighing myself then. I encourage you to search this site there is a lot of knowledge for you to learn here.

You "guys" might be out numbered, but, Duane, let me tell you, the guys that are on here are full of great information, supportive and the board would not be the same without them. I'm sure it won't be long before you'll be posting and encouraging the rest of us!!!!

It's Great to be Here!
I know I will get some good suport here. I am on day two of raw and so far so good, but I have to try some recipes so I don't "salad out" ! :)

Hi Duane,
So glad to hear you made it to day 2!!!!
Have you checked out the recipes in the recipe section? Do you have any recipe books (like Alissa's)?
I really hate to prepare foods, so I stay pretty simple. The most I prepare are my smoothies (banana and strawberries) and avocado wraps (mashed avocado spread onto green leaf lettuce leaves . . . if I get real energetic, I'll cut up some onions and/or spinach into the avocado before spreading it). I then roll the leaves up and eat away. That's about the most I prepare. I have a couple of times made some raw spaghetti. There's only 5 ingredients in the pesto sauce and of course the spaghettie is zucchini. I can post the recipe if you're interested.
Deb, who just started on this board made up a recipe that does sound good. I don't like tomatoes, but I thought I would make it for my family, I'll probably pick out the tomatoes:
"3 ears raw corn
1/2 medium zucchini
1/2 large onion
2 medium tomatoes
celtic sea salt to taste
cumin to taste
squeeze of lime
Romaine lettuce
Cut the corn off the ears then "cream" the ears by pushing the knife blade down them. My salt is the large grain so at this point, I added the salt to the corn to dissolve, then set aside. Dice tomatoes, onion and zucchini. Add corn, cumin & lime. Stuff lettuce leaves and gobble down! They're really juicy so you may have to stand over the sink to eat them! We could not believe how good they were!! If I can eat like this, I can stay raw, yessireeeee!!"
You can see a picture of it at: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1167
I hope you find something or somethings that you like so you don't get bored and slip up and start eating cooked/processed foods again. How are you doing? Are you getting hit with heavy detox?

Hi Helen! Just got Alissa's book and DVDs. I ahve not viewed the DVDs yet but the book is great. I am going to try to keep things basic as I lead a hectic life. BUT, I do not want to burn out on salads! I am going to experiement with some recipies this weekend.
