New Dehydrator!! Now what?
Woooooo-hoooooooooo -- I finally broke down and ordered a dehydrator and I'm SO EXCITED to start experimenting with new raw recipes!!!

Just wondering.......... what is YOUR favorite go-to can't-live-without-it dehydrator recipe??

Raw chocolate cookies. Seasame seeds soaked, agave, raw chocolate powder.
FLax crackers are easy I like them blended with fruit. soak the flax then they turn to goo. I like to mix it with blended fruits. dehydrate over night. turn once Yummy. pumpkin flax are really good too. I saw a post about onion bread but never tried it. I bet its really good.

ive seen at least 100 raw foodist RAVE about this recipe . though i think many make adjustments to the use or amount of oil :

THE famous Onion bread
2 1/2 lbs sweet onions, peeled
1 cup ground sunflower seeds
1 cup ground golden flax seeds
1/2 cup olive oil
3 oz. Nama Shoyu
Put onions in food processor with 's' blade and process until small pieces, (but not mush). Put in mixing bowl with the other ingredients and mix thoroughly. The flax will absorb liquid. Smooth onto teflex sheets* about 1/4" thick and place in dehydrator for 5 hours, turning over for another 3-4 hours or until dry and crispy. Either break into pieces or cut with a pizza cutter, and store in refrigerator in an airtight container.

I am always making flax crackers in mine. I tweak some of the ingredients to get slightly different kinds of flax crackers. I also make granola bars, fruit leathers, I dry herbs sometimes too. I made the onion bread/cracker once but did not like it all that much. I ate some of them, they were good, but I let them sit too long on the counter and they got bad.
I have made other types of breads/crackers too and pizza crusts. To be honest I have not used my dehydrator much ion months I have just been lazy.
Here is my granola recipes
1 C Almonds
1 C Pumpkin seeds
1 C Golden Flax
1/2 C Goji Berries
1/2 Cacao Nibs
1 C Agave Nectar
Tsp. Cinnamon
Soak nuts/seeds, process but leave sorta chunky. Place it in a bowl and add all other ingredients, mix, spread on try with non stick sheet and dehydrate at 110F for 8-10 hours, take out, cut into 3x1 bars put back in for a few more hours. You don't want them to be fully dry you want them to be still a little chewy/moist. This whole recipe yields a lot so you may wanna cut it in half. It is also mildly sweet in my opinion so you can add more sweetener or make a topping to add on the bars.
Here is another recipe
1 C Coconut pulp
3 Bananas
5 dates
Tblsp. Sesame seeds/hemp seeds/chia seeds ( any will work or you can do a mixture)
Tsp. Spirulina powder
Mix all in a food processor, then spread on non stick sheet . Dehydrate 12 hours on 110F, cut and flip and put for a few more hours.

i know ide dehydrate fruit like bananas / pineapples / etc for homemade trail mixes

Coconut works good too. I don't know about the young coconuts but maybe the firmer mature coconut meat.

I made crackers the other night that were so simple, I'm definitely doing it again. I don't worry so much about measurements but the gist was this:
1.5 cups butternut squash
1.5 cups fresh corn
Sea salt to taste
Nama shoyu to taste
Cayenne to taste

After several months without any kind of bread or cracker or cookie or cereal I'm REALLY ready to start dehydrating some!
I just bought a big bag of flax seed and several large sweet onions to make the onion bread immediately when the dehydrator arrives -- thanks for the recipe, Roman! And I LOVE butternut squash and will definitely try them as crackers -- any susbstitute ideas for fresh corn? (It's not available where I live this time of year.)
It sounds like flax seeds can be used two different ways to make crackers -- they can either be soaked to be gel-like, or ground to a more flour-type consistency?
Also on the agenda are kale chips and cheez-it crackers.........
It's a little scary. When I started using nuts in recipes I was so afraid of gaining weight or hurting myself somehow with too many fats..... but so far I've been fine and still losing weight.
Now I'm TRUSTING in raw and in Alissa's philosophy that it's okay to eat what you want, as long as it's raw.... but every instinct I have is screaming out: crackers are bad!!!! Hahahhahaa oh well, it's a journey right?
