    Default What do you miss?

    I don't normally like to dwell on the past but I was curious.

    Is there anything you really miss or don't miss since going raw?
    • a food
    • a feeling
    • an ailment
    • other

    I miss ice cream. I don't miss fried, greasy foods. I don't miss allergies, depression, or the 60 lbs. I've lost. I'd like to lose a little more. My journal on Alissa's other site says my goal is 160 but I think I can get to 150. Even at my best physical shape, 140 was about the best I could do. That was before babies. Everything changes with that.....in more ways than one.

    Great topic!

    Hey have you got a food processor? or a funky juicer that can 'blank plate'? Have you tried frozen bananas whipped into icecream?? mmmmmm

    I miss....

    * being able to eat out anywhere (even tho I prefer to eat my food now - my fiance gets down about this)
    * CHEWY things and dry crunchy thinks (I don't have a dehydrator and dehydrated stuff don't agree with me anyway but god its yum!)
    * raw cake and cheesecake - only had them once but ooooh heaven! I miss the fact I never got to try loads of yummy recipes, my digestion doesn't like that now

    I used to miss...

    * Cups of milky sugary tea (I had them till they suddenly, to my dismay, started to taste like dust)
    * bread (my hardest to overcome), the fresh smell gets me now but it tastes crap
    * the fact I never tried some stuff

    I don't miss...

    * allergies
    * asthma
    * migraines
    * eating animals or thier 'products'
    * the sniffs
    * many foods at all - which is cool :)

    I have done the banana thing in the food processor and I don't know what blank plate is. The banana ice cream was ok. I still haven't found something to compare to chocolate ice cream.

    Santarpios Pizza...
    Its a place in east Boston that has the worlds best pizza, its a whole in the wall but has been there for over 50 years. It’s famous!
    But... my pizza is pretty good i must say, and i wonder if i would even like it anymore, its been an eternity since ive had it.

    Other the that, everything i miss ive made raw... enchilada, crepe (these were my substitute for blintzes - a Jewish food i grew up on), calzones and all of the dessert...

    I don’t miss ...my fibromyalgia, my Candida, my moodiness, my lethargy, my oily skin, my frizzy hair...
    Hmmm, yeah, i guess i don’t really miss santarpios pizza, not worth it!

    Hi Everyone,

    Can you say Dave Thomas? I miss (at times) the Double Classic Hamburger at WENDY'S.

    Hey Kristi...I made some pretty darn good chocolate ice cream! It uses almond milk, cacao, carob, coconut oil, vanilla bean, dates, agave. I loved it!
    I'll see if I can scare up the recipe and post it for you. Do you have an ice cream maker?

    What I miss? Not that much to tell you the truth. Everything I would miss, never fulfilled me anyway. I CAN really relate to the going out to dinner thing. DH and I used to try new restaurants every week. Now we NEVER go out, because all I order is the "Can-you-make-me-a-big-salad-with-nothing-but-lettuce-and-raw-veggies-no-eggs-no-croutons-no-nothing-nothing-blanched-nothing-steamed-olive-oil-on-the-side" dish. I think it gets old for DH.

    I definitely don't miss fearing the scale, fearing getting dressed in the morning, the "walk of shame" to my spare closet housing the fat clothes, allergies, lack of energy, uncontrolled binging on sugar, putting disgusting chemicals in my body.....

    That would be awesome, Sue. Please find the recipe! I do have an ice cream maker but it's the huge industrial size (shouldn't surprise you.) Is that the size you mean? Is there an alternative?

    I don’t really miss anything right now. I use to and who knows maybe i will again at some point but knowing how good raw makes me feel is reason enough not to miss how badly i used to feel.

    I had all kinds of aches and pains, and a low level depression and a general sense of discontentment all the time. I really didn’t even know i was depressed or discontent until i went raw and then realized, 'wow, this is what its like to FEEL ALIVE!'

    Nope, never want to go back to that!

    I miss the time when I didn't think about whether the food was raw or not,healthy or unhealthy.....
    I miss the time when I felt really free in every part of my life.

    rawelkie i know what you mean..i sometimes look at others stuffing in bugers and fries and no guilt no stuff..and i envy them BUT i know its not the truth cos they will be the ones who get ill ..and in some ways i am more free now..from the guilt and addictions i had..the more i eat raw the less i think about it..

    but when i dont like the food and all that and i am unhappy with it and allthe wondering high fruit low fruit etc etc i wonder if i wo uldn prefur to live a shorter but happier life ??

    I forgot to say, there is one thing I miss: Chocolate Martinis. Especially on Friday nights. (Hey it's Friday night).

    Now and then I miss an enviroment like those cofee houses with the big overstuffed furniture.
    The only place we have been going to is Souper Salad, but the other night I felt a suspicious tingling in my mouth and feel like I was experiencing something like MSG so that place may be off limits now.
