If you don't want to eat salad for lunch, I don't see anything wrong with having a green smoothie instead, so long as you get the greens in there. I totally understand about not wanting to eat salad...

All the flax crackers and granola and etc. are more just transitional foods for getting off of cooked foods. They're not essential at all. And avocados are not going to make you fat. There's...

seriously, you should do green juice on a fast. it works wonders. :D it's the best source of amino acids, and we don't really have a store for amino acids other than our muscles, which are always...

yeah, I like eating the beans whole, with the skin on too. and maybe a few dates to go with them :)

DO NOT EAT RAW MEAT!!! It contains bacteria (i.e. salmonella) that could cause your kidneys to shut down, and then you could DIE. I'm being totally serious here. It's not funny at all.

sidrah, the only dumb question is the one you DON'T ask. your question was perfectly fine.
p.s. In her book "Living Raw Food", Sarma Melngailis has a recipe for raw coconut yogurt made with young...

anything being mass-grown for mass-sale is highly suseptable to a great degree of hybridization, so yeah, the cavendish bananas we have now are likely a lot less nutritious than their ancestors. but...

Hi. I was wondering, has anyone ever tried grinding raw cacao nibs in a vitamix? And if so, how did it turn out? And are there any other ways (besides the mortar & pestol) for making cacao nibs...

You can definitely get the white ones in China Town. I got 1 from there once. I usually just get the mature ones though, because they're much more available to me where I am in Scarborough. I have a...

I just did a google search, and I think it might be the tannic acid. That gets leached out of the almonds when you soak them.

I have Matt Amsden's book, but I can't say I've tried this recipe. Soaking the sun-dried tomatoes would make them blend smoother though. And I personally would use a couple dates instead of the agave.

I guess I'm the only one here who ISN'T crazy about green smoothies. I used to drink them, but don't anymore. They're really oxidized.

Well... nuts are a fatty food. Fruit digests fast, and fat needs to sit in the stomach for hours to be broken down by the stomach acid. So the fruit would sit and ferment. I'd advise against it, but...

Last time I was at the movies I brought dried fruit and nuts. Me and my friend (who also doesn't care to eat theatre popcorn) had to sneak it in because the theatre didn't want people bringing food...

The darker, stronger color indicates more phytonutrients (plant nutrients, phyto = plant). I'd consider this rule to be true unless the ripe version is supposed to be a lighter color than the unripe...

Get organic spices if you can. All the non-organic ones are irradiated.

You could eat the soup warm but not really hot, that way it wouldn't damage the salad in your stomach. It's always better to eat salad with cooked food for the digestive enzymes, so your pancreas...

Overdosing on vitamins is a big problem with the fat soluable vitamins (A, D, E, and K). Because they get stored in the body, they can be really toxic.
Water soluable vitamins (B and C) aren't...

I used to do fruit smoothies and green smoothies, but I stopped a couple years ago after hearing about how much blending oxidizes the food. It's much MUCH more nutritious to just eat food unblended....

If I was talking to someone thinking about going raw, I'd tell them all the scientific facts. Raw food hasn't had all it's nutrients and enzymes cooked away. The food has all its nutrients (including...

Juice. Extremely easy to digest = lots of nutrients and energy, and no painful cramps from exercising w/ food in your stomach. I'd make it with both fruit and vegetables (e.g. pineapple, orange,...

Can you take a sprouting class where you are?

I've been totally raw everyday this week, except Tuesday, and right now, I just feel so damn good. Plus I've been having raw cacao in my morning banana smoothie for the last 2 days, and I think...
